AZ Watson Taken at Midnight

Item consists of a sepiatone black and white photograph of a man and a dog at midnight in Nome, Alaska. The man appears to be standing on a porch with his hands in his pockets. He is wearing a long dark coat, glasses and a hat. There are binoculars around his neck. There is a dog in the foreground, at the feet of the man. There is an uneven white border around the image and at the bottom of the photograph is written "AZ Watson Taken at Midnight" in pen. On the back of the photograph in pencil is handwritten "Taken at Nome Alaska at 12 oclock at night continuous light sun set at 10.20 pm June 21st 1902".

Item consists of a program for Acadia by Tom Stoppard and presented by The Canadian Stage Company. The performance was shown at the Bluma Appel Theatre, St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts between September 30 and November 2, 1996.

Achromatic stereoscope viewer

Item is a wooden and brass stereoscope with wooden hood cover. This object was used to view two nearly identical photographs, or stereographs, as one three dimensional image. The stereograph would be placed in the sliding card holder and adjusted to fit the user's vision until the two images overlap to mimic a three-dimensional effect. Item is a box type viewer which folds into it's own storage case. Additional reflector can be placed in adjustable brass arms to illuminate transparencies with its white or mirrored side. Viewer is mounted on underside of the lid case. Once inverted and lowered into the box the base becomes the the cover. Lock on either side designed to hold object in place. Later versions of this object included storage units for both viewer and slides. Such as a vertical model able to adjust the viewer to a convenient height and a horizontal cabinet to house stereoviews.

Item is an Acme-Light electronic flash unit and comes in a cardboard box, with instructions and an attachment. There is options for a neon lite and test, and the handle has a pistol grip design. It is compatible with Polaroid SX70, Alpha and Pronto! Cameras. Additional features include: 1/1000 Sec flash duration, daylight color temperature, a maximum distance of 12 feet and a 15 sec. recycle time.

Action Tracker ADI

Item is a small, plastic novelty camera that shoots four consecutive photos on one frame of 35 mm film. The rotating shutter exposes them in sequence, at intervals of about 0.22 sec.The result is four images on a single negative that show the movement of a subject in phases. The process uses the same concepts as the stop-motion animation used by Eadweard Muybridge in his Animal Locomotion series of the late 1800's. The camera is a very simple design and has no focusing or aperture control and a simple sports style viewfinder. The shutters are fixed at 1/100 of a second.

Item is a copy print with the caption: A 1916 crew films actress Dorothy Gish. The director, center, is Elmer Clifton. The assistant cameraman, right is Karl Brown. Eight years later, Brown photographed "The Covered Wagon," the prototype of the "Hollywood western." I-88-1454

The form advertises that stereoscopic photographs by Keystone View Co. can now be borrowed at the local library and viewed using the stereoscopic viewers they have available. Brochure outlines what they are, the process and contextualizes the cards, stating that they also carry pictures for rural people. Also includes images of people looking at the cards and a couple pictures of people going through the process to borrow stereocards

Advertising proofs binder

Item contains advertising proofs created for Kodak Canada Ltd., by The Baker Advertising Agency Ltd. in 1927, as well as a list of newspapers advertisements where the ads were published, and select rotogravure newspaper clippings of sections containing the Kodak advertisements. Most of the advertisements relate to the Cine-Kodak Amateur film camera, which had recently been introduced in 1923.
