What's Happening Around Ryerson / On Campus This Week

This circular provided the Ryerson Community with information on day-to-day events taking place on Campus. From 1971 to April 1977, the publication was called "What's Happening Around Ryerson" with the name changing to "On Campus This Week" on the September 2, 1977 issue. "On Campus This Week" was last published in 1986. As an alternative, a number of departments agreed to pool their resources to sponsor, on a non-profit basis, a weekly full-page listing of campus events in the student newspaper, THE EYEOPENER.

File contains an agreement between The Ryerson Press and Peter Whalley for the book "Mrs. Beeton's Cookery and Housekeeping Book". The actual book was titled "Broom, brush & bucket : the good old days of Mrs. Beeton's housewifery" when published.

Wetherell, James Elgin

File contains an agreement and correspondence between The Ryerson Press and James Elgin Wetherell regarding the book "Standard Poems for Supplementary Reading". Also in the file is a torn page that appears to be a letter regarding royalties and the Wetherell estate.

Wet plate negatives

Series contains wet plate collodion negatives, a process usually credited to William Scott Archer , in wide use between 1851 and 1885. The process uses light-sensitive silver halides in collodion on a glass base and the negatives needed to be exposed while still wet. Positive prints of wet plate negatives were usually made using the albumen silver process. The process was superseded by the more convenient dry plate process.

Weston Master Universal Exposure Meter

Item is a Weston Master Universal Exposure Meter. Manufactured by Sangamo Weston Ltd. & Ilford Limited at the Enfield factory in Middlesex, England. Commonly referred to as Weston Master I. It is the first Weston meter to be produced in an upright format.

Westmount, Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom

Photographs of the interior and exterior of the temple, with details of decoration in sanctuary. The building was completed in 1959 after a fire destroyed the previous building built in 1911. The new building, Temple Emanu-El, and its sanctuary were dedicated on Friday, April 22, 1960. In 1980 Temple Beth Sholom, a sister congregation, was united with Temple Emanu-El to form the present Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom congregation.

Western section, Gardiner Expressway, concept drawings

Illustrations showing an idealized reconstruction of the section of the Gardiner Expressway between Bathurst Street and Sunnyside Pavilion (near the base of Parkside Drive), extending to the waterfront. Drawings include the addition of a new waterfront park, viewing platforms hung under the raised expressway, Front Street is extended to the west, and an amusement pier at Sunnyside. The designs were commissioned as part of an OAA Charrette, and the images were published in the July 1987 issue of Canadian Architect magazine.

West wing Ryerson Hall demolition
