[Osberg family(?) portraits]

File consists of four card mounted photographs, 3 of the same man in various poses and 1 of a woman. All mounted on black card by studios in Montreal. The photographs were found inside the Agnes Osberg album (2009.005.023) with a yellow sticky note that read: Came from the same family But Not this album.

Photograph of a group of 7 passengers in an early automobile, stopped along Stanley Park drive in front of the "Hollow Tree". This old cedar was a popular spot for group photographs in both cars and horse-drawn carriages. The stamp on the back of the card mount indicates this was taken by an official park photographer: "The Stanley Park Photographers, Head Office, 162 Cordova Street, Vancouver, B.C.". The negative number for ordering more prints is given as 4869a.

The Rock, White Rock, BC

Items consists of a post card of a 4 men and 4 women standing and sitting on a large rock. Image is circular and likely shot on an early Kodak Brownie. On the front, above the image someone has handwritten in pencil "The Rock", and below in pencil "White Rock B.C". The back of the photograph is printed with a post card format. This image was developed on Velox photographic paper, the first commercially successful photo paper.

Brechin

Item consists of photographs of a trip to Brechin. The photos are taken in a rural farming area with subjects that include men and women, horses, hay, firewood, a log cabin, corn stalks, and cows.

Item consists of eight photographs taken at Unionville of a young boy and a young girl. The children are accompanied by adults in two of the photos. In one of them both children are carried by adults with another woman standing by. In the other the young girl is standing in front of a man.

Item is a photo album with a blue binding and a mostly blue and red cover. Item contains images of a number of different pavilions at Expo '67 for various countries and organizations, artworks, ceremonies and activities, and provides a short write up in French and English on each.

Lantern Slides, Ships

Two slides feature two ships: in one slide the boat sails peacefully along the water in Newfoundland, and in the other slide a boat is caught in a storm. In the third slide, a crew is working on either loading or unloading a boat and crew members are busy working.

Canada Stamps

Stamps are largely blue and green. Have two gentleman in them, one larger in the background and a smaller one in the foreground with a photographic viewer. Writing on the stamps possibly identifying the figures, "G.E. Desbarats, W. Leggo 1869."

Ration Books

One green ration book (Book 2, belonged to John Albert Elgie) and one brown ration book (Book 4, belonged to Maggie Elgie). Each contains stamps for rationed items during World War Two. Book 2 describes items as Spare A, B or G, but in Book 4 these classes were replaced by descriptions of the actual items ie. Meat, Tea or Coffee. Some stamps are missing from each.

View-Master

Item is a handheld view master manufactured by Sawyer's Inc and first introduced at the New York World Fair (1939-1940). Item is made of plastic and metal. Reel of 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of famous landmarks in British Columbia, Canada. The lever on the side of the viewer will rotate the reel one frame at a time once pressed. Reels are interchangeable and come with a variety of themes.

Revolving stereoscope viewer (A. Mattey)

Item is a wooden tabletop stereoscope with binocular viewer made with 50 built in glass stereographs of landscapes from Quebec and Montreal, factories and vernacular photography. Top of the stereoscope can open for additional light. Inside the object is a revolving metal belt (patented by Alexander Beckers) holding the stereographs that can be turned by the circular handles on the outside of the viewer.
