Jennie McNulty

American actress and "Gaiety Girl", Jennie McNulty was the leader of the Chroisters' Association in 1895, a predominately women's club with four small rooms for reading, writing, and relaxing and two large rooms for rehearsals.

American actress, burlesque performer. She is recorded as having performed in "Our Cinderella: A Burlesque" by William Gill in the Colville Company's 1878-9 season, and in "The Magic Slipper" for Haverley's Theater in New York in August 1879, produced by Samuel Colville's Opera Burlesque Company.

Item is in a cream coloured card-frame embossed opening, with embossed letters "Potter's Patent March 7 1865." Which is how we dated the tintype. Photograph is a studio portrait of two women, both seated, arms resting on the one armrest with fringes. Woman on right is dressed all in black, with black hat and veil - perhaps mourning wear. The woman on the left is in full skirt with black trim and black top, white collar and black hat. Both have pink tinted cheeks.

Item has a cream card-frame embossed opening, with embossed letters "Potter's Patent March 7 1865." Which is how we dated the tintype. Photograph is a studio portrait of two women, both standing, side by side. Both women wear hats. One on left wears a dark shirtwaist, with a striped full skirt with hair tied neatly back and little bow at the neck. Woman on right has a dark dress, buttons down the front with a small white collar, in fashion in the 1860s. Her hair is shoulder lenght ringlets, also in fashion in the 1860s. Both have pink tinted cheeks.

Item is a small silver gelatin portrait print. Yellow and brown in colour, image is of a young girl with long brown hair, tied up on the side with a barrette. Background is a studio setting with a pillar or column. Inscription on recto "Florence" handwritten in black ink, across bottom of image. Inscription on verso "Tel. Main .3877 A. E. Otis Photographer Open Sundays & Holidays 457-59 Fulton St., B'klyn" in red ink stamp.

Premo film pack adapter

4x5 film pack adapter for Premo camera. Metal and wood pack adapter. Inscription on side of wood "For Premo cameras." Premo cameras were manufactured by Rochester Optical and Camera company, which was bought out by Eastman Kodak in 1903. Date based on inscription: "Manufactured by Eastman Kodak Co. successor to Rochester Optical Co. Rochester, N.Y., U.S.A. Canada 25-03 British Pat. Apr. 21-03 France Pat. Apr. 18-03 German C.R.P. June 7 - 1905 U.S.A. Pat. May 19-03." (Eastman Kodak changed the name of the Rochester Optical Company to the Rochester Optical Division in 1907). Inscription on outside of metal back, "Premo film pack adapter."

Item is a cabinet card portrait featuring four monks, two seated with two standing behind in a photography studio. The card is greyish blue in colour, and the photographer's stamp on the verso reads: "PHOTOGRAPHERS, / ROMASZKIEWICZ / 1017 BROADWAY, / BUFFALO, N.Y.".

print mounted on balck mat board. Depcits a view of a roadway lined with columns and statuary with pedestrians walking between. This is a view of the lincoln parkway entrance to the pan american exposition grounds, built for the exposition of 1901 in Buffalo NY. Verso inscription "Pan American Exposition 1903, The Pan American Exposition 1903, compliments of MR. Luther Cand."

Item consists of a cream coloured cabinet card with black letterpress at bottom edge, "Hearn, 1104 State St., Olean, N. Y." Photograph is a full length portrait of 3 children, 2 boys and a girl. The girl on the right holds a doll in her hand with elaborate hat and lace vest. The older boy wears a plain double breasted suit and cropped trousers, and the younger wears a sailor-style fashion. They stand in front of an abstracted studio backdrop. On verso, handwritten in pencil, "16 Washington St.".

Item is a cream cabinet card with gold letterpress, partially obscured by the photograph which is pasted on top, sideways. "Van Aken/ ELMIRA, N.Y." with a decoration with letters "V" and "A" intertwined. Photograph shows two individual circular portraits of a man and a woman. Handwritten in ink at the base of the woman's portrait is "1851" and the man's, "1850". Given the style of dress and hair, this is probably the date of the original picture and not a birth or death date. On verso, an elaborate border and design with griffon and foliage, with the text "E.M. Van Aken/ Photographic/ Art/ Studio./ Practical Photographer,/ 120 West Water Street,/ ELMIRA, N.Y./ COPYRIGHTED 1889."

Item is a cream cabinet card with scalloped, gold-leafed edges and gold letterpress at bottom, "Goodwin/ EXTRA FINISH/ SYRACUSE, N.Y." Photograph is a full length portrait of a young boy, probably about 5 years old, wearing a lace shirt with dark cuffs and a dark ascot tie, trousers cut off at the knee, and holding a stick in one hand and a hat in another. He sits on the edge of a stone pillar with a background of abstracted leaves for a backdrop. Item is an albumen print mounted on cabinet card. Depicts man standing in front of store, which is selling lamps, baskets, pots, etc. Sign on building reads "D.G. Paige 971" Verso inscriptions, top left: "David Paige in business in New York," "$9.50," "LMMA," "$38.00."

Eastman's Squeegee album

"Photographs" is embossed in black ink on the tan clothe-bound album cover. There are 50 spaces for photographs on the 26 pages, and the 38 extant images are of people at work and play in rural and urban areas. A sticker on the last, empty page reads “Eastman’s Squeegee Album, for 3 ½ x 3 ½ pictures, style A, manufactured by Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, NY.”

Green clothe-bound cover is embossed with “Scovill’s Photographic Series" and gold letterpress "The American Annual of Photography and Photographic Times Almanac for 1895.” This 438 p. book contains photomechanical reproductions of Alfred Stieglitz' "Outward Bound", p. 27, and "A Young Garibaldi", p. 254. Item is a photographic enlarger consisting of nine parts; a metal base, two shafts, one bellows/negative holder assembly with red filter, lens assembly, lamp with cord, and three cardbooard negative guides. Cast into the vertical assembly are the words: "Fotolarger, Testrite, N.Y." On the negative holder, there is a metal plate printed with the CSA logo, and "Fotolarger, use #211 lamp 75 W 110-115 V, Testrite Instrument Co., Inc., New York, N. Y. -- made in U.S.A."

Orange cardboard tubes have grey labels printed with black ink: "M - Q DEVELOPER TUBES, Adapted to any make of Dry Plates, Films, Developing and Bromide Papers. PAPER, FILMS AND PLATES -- Dissolve thoroughly in Five ounces of water the contents of red end of tube. Then add and dissolve remainder."

B.C. Place opening ceremonies

Opening ceremonies for the B.C. Place stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, which was the largest air-supported domed stadium until May 2010 when it was deflated to be replaced by a retractable roof.

T.F. Pevear's cottage picture album

A letter folded into the album cover, addressed to Mr. Gordon Hamblin at Canadian Kodak, Ltd. describes the content of the album as a weekend at Mr.T. F. Pevear's cottage near Rochester, NY, where Mr. Hamblin visited while attending a meeting at the Eastman Kodak Company.

Electric view master stereoscope (model D)

Item is a brown handheld electric view master first manufactured by Swayer's Inc and first introduced at the New York World Fair (1939-1940). Once pressed down the lever on the side of the viewer will rotate the reel one frame at a time once pressed. Unlike previous view masters, this view master comes with a built in back light attached to an electrical cord. Once turned on the back light illuminates transparencies on view. Item is made of plastic and metal. Reel has 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of The Atlas of Human Anatomy, Head and Neck.

Sawyer's View-Master (model B)

Item is a circular brown plastic view master with binocular shape viewer. Item comes with one reel of 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of Niagara Falls, New York. Item opens and closes with lock at the top. Lever is designed to rotate transparencies.

Stereograph Album

1 photo album, with a burgundy and gold cover. Images focus on telling short stories, specific locations and people. Comes with a couple brochures for a stereoscopic exhibit by James Ricalton that focuses on the world.

Seven Wonders of the World, View-master Reel

Item is a set of wheel type stereographs that depict the wonders of the world. Each wheel focuses on a different set of wonders: ancient, modern, or natural and the list describing what each wheel portrays is on the back of the packet. Also comes with a 16 page color illustrated booklet.

The Lark at the Longacre Theatre

Item consists of a Playbill program for the production of the Jean Anouilh play The Lark at the Longacre Theatre. The play starred Julie Harris, Christopher Plummer, and Boris Karloff. Newspaper photographs of the production are tipped into the program throughout.
