Corporate histories and overviews

File contains miscellaneous overviews and histories of Kodak, written and used as reference material by Kodak Canada's communications department between 1958 and 2004. Includes brief background accounts and "fast facts," as well as "Kodak Canada Milestones" documents, which provide year-to-year accounts of Kodak Canada's activities. Most documents provide general corporate information, but some cover more specific topics, including the Ryerson Chair in Photography, Kodak's Toronto Expansion Program, the history of the Kodak camera, Kodak's offices in Quebec, Ottawa, and Edmonton, and the history of the Kodak Heights Power House (building #1). Many of the histories were written by Mel Rubinstein, Company Information Specialist, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. Corporate histories in this file appear to have been written retroactively and can thus be differentiated from Kodak Canada's "Corporate History Notes," which were written on an ongoing basis and provided day-to-day accounts of the company's life.

Corporate history notes

Sub-sub-series contains notes compiled between 1908 and 1984 on an ongoing basis by Kodak Canada historians. Company history notes consist of detailed day-to-day accounts of all aspects of the company's life. File includes of 3.5 cm of loose-leaf textual records, 1 3-ring binder, and two half-bound notebooks.

Includes: George Eastman and William Hall Walker's original Canadian roll holder patent; correspondence between Canadian Kodak and Eastman Kodak executives; customs letters; company-wide announcements; company history notes; general company information; annual and quarterly reports; reports published or commissioned by Kodak; executive presentation notes; corporate directories and administrative documents; records pertaining to miscellaneous corporate divisions; and other miscellaneous corporate records.

Correspondence between George Eastman and John G. Palmer

File contains correspondence between George Eastman and John G. Palmer between 1900 and 1904. Palmer was the treasurer of Canadian Kodak Co. Ltd., becoming the company's first president in 1918. Correspondence pertains to: the purchase of buildings on King Street; the purchase of the Stanley Dray Plate Co., J.G. Ramsey & Co., and D.H. Hogg & Co.; managerial titles; employee counts; and other miscellaneous topics. File also includes a list of photography companies in Toronto and Montreal and their 1903 annual sales. Included in this list is Wm. Notman & Son.

File contains images of creative photography. One enclosed typed caption reads: "A picture of cracked, peeling paint? Why not, when the result is an abstract as interesting and appealing as this?" Daily production activity logbooks

File contains two logbooks detailing the daily production activities of Kodak Canada from 1947 to 1955 and from 1960 to 1962. The latter logbook, labelled as the "Paper Ctg. Day Book," records the activities of the paper manufacturing department of Kodak Canada. Though unidentified, the former logbook likely pertains to the same department.

Dufferin Children's Car Rally award

Item is a piece of pressed paper hung on a black background behind red and blue mats in a black frame. The pressing reads: "[Dufferin Children's Fund Car Rally logo] / oomanac / Corporate Challenge". A brass plaque mounted to the base of the blue mat is engraved with the words: "CORPORATE CHALLENGE WINNER / 2ND ANNUAL / DUFFFERIN CHILDREN'S CAR RALLY / SEPTEMBER 21, 1996 / ORANGEVILLE ON".

Eastman Kodak repair parts lists and repair service information

File consists of three 3-ring binders, created between 1929 and 1943, containing detailed, illustrated instructions and equipment lists designed to serve as reference material for those responsible for repairing Kodak still and motion picture cameras. Information contained within the binders was created and distributed on a subscription basis by Eastman Kodak Company. Subscribers would receive periodic updates of information, which could be added to the binders over time.
