[Baby in Wicker Pram by the Window]

Item consists of two black and white photographs of a baby in a wicker pram. The baby is bundled in white blankets and pillows and is wearing a hat and hood. The pram is indoors next to a large window. There are houseplants and a fern by the pram.

Une Voyage Commence

Item consists of a toned black and white photograph of a group of men and women on a sailboat. Five women dressed in long skirts and three men in turtlenecks or ties stand and sit on one end of the boat, posing for the photographer. In the foreground, a boy is turned away from the camera, looking at the group. He is wearing a hat and has his sleeves rolled up. The boat seems to tilt sharply to the left. On the back of the photograph is handwritten in pen "Une Voyage Commence" which is French, and translates to "a trip / journey begins".

[Little Girl in Baby Carriage]

Item consists of two black and white photographs of a little girl popping out of a baby carriage. In one photograph, the little girl is looking up, and in the other photograph she is looking out. The carriage is parked in the front or back of a house. There is ivy covering the house. There is a 0.5 cm white border surrounding the image. The back of both photographs are stamped in black ink "532C".

Shields, Lorne

[Group outdoors]

Item consists of a mounted photograph of a group of men and women within a gated property outdoors. Four people are sitting on the grass with a dog while three are standing beside the seated group. The area is enclosed by a white picket fence.

[Group Conversation]

Item consists of a photograph of a group of people talking to each other with their backs turned to the camera. One man is crossing his arms and looking directly at the camera. In the background there is the roof of a structure that appears to be a bandstand.

[Parade]

Item consists of a photograph of a parade at 'Iolani Palace in Hawaii. At the front are flag bearers for Australia, United States of America, Hawaii, and another unidentifiable flag. Following behind the flag bearers is a marching band. To the side of the parade are spectators by the palm trees.

[Group Trip]

File consists of photographs of a group of people from the 1910s on a trip. Images include a group of people on board of a ship getting seasickness; two working class women crossing a stream; and two men and a woman on the other side of a fence.

[Dog portrait]

Item consists of a photograph of a dark haired dog sitting on its hind legs at the bottom step of a set of stairs. The centre of the stairs are covered by a carpet.

Negatives Atherley

Item consists of photographs of a family taken at Atherley. Subjects include water bodies, the Samuel de Champlain monument (in present day Orillia and designed by Vernon March), a house, and a car thought to be a Ford Model A.

Miscellainous

Item consists of miscellaneous photographs of a family posing by trees, water bodies, fields, fences, and a house. The photographs were most likely taken with an Ansco Camera.

Wedding

Item consists of photographs taken at the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. McClure in 1925. Subjects include various group photos, a large boat, a Ford Model A, horse carriages, a large drum with the Prince of Wales on it, canoes, and dog carriages.

McKane Family Atherley

Item consists of two photographs at Atherley. One is of the McKane family in front of a brick house. The other photograph is of the brick house from a distance with flowers with long stalks in front.

Brechin

Item consists of photographs of a trip to Brechin. The photos are taken in a rural farming area with subjects that include men and women, horses, hay, firewood, a log cabin, corn stalks, and cows.

Snow Views

Item consists of photographs taken on Christmas day in the snow by a brick house. People photographed include "Dot [a dog], Joe & Norman, Ethel & James & Etc."

Brechin

Item consists of photographs of a family at Brechin. Subjects include family portraits and photographs with various farm animals including birds, horses, cats, and goats.

Unionville

Item consists of eight photographs taken at Unionville of a young boy and a young girl. The children are accompanied by adults in two of the photos. In one of them both children are carried by adults with another woman standing by. In the other the young girl is standing in front of a man.

Atherley

Item consists of photographs of a family taken at Atherley. Subjects include water bodies, a canoe, the Samuel de Champlain monument (in present day Orillia and designed by Vernon March), a house, and a cow.

Dorothy & James

Item consists of photographs of a young girl and man around a neighbourhood and inside a house. Two photos are in front of a tall fence, one is a photo of the young girl with a woman and the other is the young girl surrounded by a group of people.

[Girl in a Garden]

Item consists of two black and white photographs of a girl standing in a garden. The girl is wearing a light coloured shirt, skirt, cape and hat. In one photograph, she is wearing the hat, and in the other she is holding it. She is standing in the grass and looking at the camera. A 1 cm white border surrounds the images. On the back of each photograph is handwritten "July 7 / 31".

[GEMS Baseball Team]

Item consists of a black and white photograph of a boys' baseball team. The boys wear uniforms with GEMS on the front. They are sitting and standing on a grassy field. Five boys stand in the back, six sit cross-legged in front of them, and one boy is laying in front of all of them. There is a boy visible in the background, leaning on his bat.

[Woman in Fur, and Baby in Wicker Pram]

Item consists of a black and white photograph of a woman standing next to a baby carriage. The woman is wearing a hat and fur coat. The baby is in a wicker pram. Both are looking at the camera. There are two houses behind them. There is a light leak toward the bottom right of the photograph. On the back of the photograph is handwritten in pencil "Apr 1915".

[Jerry Sachs and the Portsmouth Baseball Team]

Item consists of a series of black and white photographs of a young men's baseball team. In one photo, the men are wearing baseball hats with the letter "P" on them, and ties that say "Portsmouth". The guys are standing in a hilly suburb park area with some homes behind them. All of the men in their uniforms are standing in a line, and there is a younger looking boy dressed as an umpire in front of them. There is a small uneven white border around the image. On the back of the photograph, someone has written in pencil "Jerry Sachs, 5 from left side". In another photo, the team is together on a grassy field with a man in a hat and tie. They are off- center and some of the team appears to be cut out of the frame. There is a light leak on the bottom right. On the back of the photograph in pencil is "Jerry Sachs, far-far left back row"

[Baby in Bed]

Item consists of two photographs of a baby in a white dress sleeping in a bed. The baby is propped up on some pillows in a single bed. These appear to be the same photograph printed twice at different exposures.

AZ Watson Taken at Midnight

Item consists of a sepiatone black and white photograph of a man and a dog at midnight in Nome, Alaska. The man appears to be standing on a porch with his hands in his pockets. He is wearing a long dark coat, glasses and a hat. There are binoculars around his neck. There is a dog in the foreground, at the feet of the man. There is an uneven white border around the image and at the bottom of the photograph is written "AZ Watson Taken at Midnight" in pen. On the back of the photograph in pencil is handwritten "Taken at Nome Alaska at 12 oclock at night continuous light sun set at 10.20 pm June 21st 1902".

L.S.H.LL 10 Years on General Principles [photobooth stip]

Item consists of a black and white photobooth strip of a man in a vest and tie. In all images he is looking to the left. On each frame is handwritten in pencil "813427" and on the back in the same handwritting is "L.S.H.LL 10 Years on General Principles". There is an uneven black border around each frame, and some damaged from fingerprints on the middle frame.

[Photobooth Strip of a Man]

Item consists of one black and white photobooth strip of a man in a suit and tie. There are three different frames. In the top frame, the man is facing left, in the middle frame he is facing forward and on the lower frame he is facing right. The focus of the image is somewhat off and the man never makes direct eye contact with the lens. Between the frames is an uneven black border.

[Man, 19 Fish, Woman]

Item consists of a sepia toned black and white photograph of a man and woman standing beside 19 large fish hung on a wooden shed. The man is wearing a tie and suspenders and the woman is wearing a long black dress with white lace jabot. They are both holding fishing rods.

[Elderly Woman in a Chair]

Item consists of a black and white photograph and gelatin silver negative of an elderly woman sitting in a chair. The woman is wearing a dress with lace collar. She is sitting in a wooden chair in a grassy field. There is a large tree behind her. The photograph is a cropped version of the negative. There is a small white border surrounding the photograph.

[Women Leaning on Porch Pillar]

Item consists of two black and white photographs of two women leaning on a porch pillar. In one, the woman is wearing a large hat and scarf, a coat and white gloves, and a long skirt. She is leaning on a column of a front porch of a home. There are rocking chairs in the background on the porch. In the other photograph, the woman is wearing a large hat and fur coat. She poses beside the column. There is snow on the front steps. There is a dark spot on the right side of the images, where it appears something slightly obstructed the lens. There is a small white border surrounding the image. On the back of the photographs in pencil is written "712" and "884", respectively.

Forest view

Image of a forest scene. Photograph is bright green color. Inscribed in black ink on bottom of photograph, 'Port Elgin, ONT' Pencil inscription on back of photograph reads, '9-1932 Glass Between'

Miscellaneous series

Series predominately consists of photographic reproductions of drawings or paintings, often on a cabinet card or carte de visite bases--these objects were mass produced for the commercial market using photography, but the original images were not photographic. Also included in this series are published photographic materials in the form of advertisements, books, and stereocards.

A.T. Orr family photographs series

Series consists of photographs and negatives that belonged to Mr. A.T. Orr and his family. Series also contains several business cards of Mr. Orr's, some of his personal correspondence, newspaper clippings pertaining to birth and wedding announcements, a hymnal, and a lock of Florence E. Orr's hair. Design plans for the Montreal Light Heat & Power Co. are also found in the series.

Landscapes and industry series

Series consists of photographs of landscapes, usually featuring factories, mills, bridges or other industrial and man-made objects, and images of agriculture. There area few small sub-sets of images in this series related to sports, which show horses and jockeys, cars and grandstands at racing events.

Lantern slides series

Series consists of sets of lantern slides, often of historical monuments or landscapes. One set of painted slides appears to recount a story, with images of people outdoors on a farm, in a carriage, dancing and fighting. Another set of non-photographic painted slides depicts children working and playing. The slides in this series were mass produced for the commercial market.

Cameras and optical devices series

Series consists of camera models, from individually hand-crafted to mass-produced, and camera equipment, including filters, light meters, and timers, and darkroom equipment, including enlargers, chemicals, and printing papers. Several non-photographic optical devices are also found in this series, including two toys, a mono print viewer, and a stereo film viewer.
