Biographical history

Ted Kesik (b. January 23, 1954) is a Professor of Building Science at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto and a former Professor in the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University (1989 - 1998). Kesik earned his BASc in Civil Engineering from the University of Ottawa (1983), and his MASc (1986) and PhD (1992) in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto. He entered the construction industry in 1974 and, from 1986 to 1998, was the Principal at building science engineering firm, Habitechnica. Kesik joined the Faculty at U of T as an Associate Professor in 1999. He became full Professor in 2013 and acted as Dean of the Faculty from 2003 to 2004. His research interests include low energy passive solar housing, high performance buildings, durability, life cycle analysis, systems integration, sustainability and resilience. Kesik continues to practice as a consulting engineer to architectural offices, enterprises and government agencies.
