Biographical history

  • A registrar was appointed when the Institute was founded in 1948. *The first registrar was Morley Finley, who also served as executive assistant to the principal. After Finley resigned his position in 1955-1956, his replacement, D.G.W. McRae, held the title of Registrar alone. *In 1986, the Office of Admissions/Liaison, under Gene Logel, joined the newly-formed Department of Community Relations. *The Registrariat consisted of three main areas: Academic Advising/Evaluations, Records and Registration Services and Timetabling. *In 1990, the Department of Community Relations underwent some organizational changes (see Community Relations Group History). It appears that the Office of Admissions/Liaison no longer reported to Community Relations but became the responsibility of the Registrar/Registrariat* (*Organizational Charts/Ryerson Internal Telephone Directories). *In April 1993, the Registrariat made some organizational changes with four units amalgamating into two: Academic Advising/Evaluations with Admissions/Liaison and Timetabling joining with Records and Registration Services. The arrangement of records has been handled as follows: Prior to April 1993 all Academic Advising/Evaluations (now known as Curriculum Advising) will remain under the "Registrar" Group (see Collection Record 184-16), while records after that date have been incorporated under the re-named group "AdmissnLiaisonAdvsng". Records and Registration Records will also remain under the "Registrar", while Timetabling will continue to be arranged under the existing "Timetabling" group. This arrangement is subject to review at a later date. *The following is a list of the Institute's registrars from 1948 to the present: Morley Finley 1948-1956 D.G.W. McRae 1956-1958 Al Sauro 1958-1967 Al Wargo 1967-1972 Dorothy Rowles 1972-1973 Roy Horney 1973-1978 Jennifer Brunzell 1978-1988 Dennis Mock 1988-1989 Dawn Little (Acting) 1989-1990 Keith C.
