The Doremus Studio was a photography studio that was located in Paterson, New Jersey and operated during the late nineteenth century. It was owned by photographer John P. Doremus and succeeded by his son, Leonard.

Item is a grey card with white letterpress at bottom centre, "THE/ DOREMUS/ STUDIO" contained in a wreath design, with "52 BROADWAY/ PATERSON, N.J./ GROUND FLOOR". Photograph shows three women in high collarded dresses. At the top edge, handwritten in blue ink above each of the women, from left to right, "Mary Reed", "Aunt Catherine Reed", and "Julia Reed".

Physical condition

Fair. The image is yellowing and there is a lot of surface abrasion. The card has a gouge in the upper left side, and at the bottom left (more visible on verso). The white text of the photographer's stamp is blurred, probably from water damage.
