História biográfica
Dr. Patrice Dutil is a professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Ryerson University. Dr. Dutil received a BA (Hon.) from York University, an M es Arts from the Université de Montréal and a PhD from York University. Dr. Dutil's main research interests are political and public sector leadership, the process of political development, and the study of elections. Dr. Dutil started his career in the Province of Ontario’s Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs in 1987 as a policy advisor, working mostly on constitutional and environmental issues. Dr. Dutil joined TVOntario in 1990, where he worked in corporate policy as senior policy advisor and then, starting in 1995, indulged his interest in television and documentary production as manager of programming for the French language network, TFO. In 1999 Dr. Dutil was named Director of Research at the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC). Dr. Dutil left as acting Executive Director in 2006 to join Ryerson University. Dr. Dutil founded the Literary Review of Canada in 1991 and edited it for five years before selling it to Carleton University Press in 1997. Since 2001 Dr. Dutil has sat on the Council of the Champlain Society and has been its President since 2011. Dr. Dutil has been a visiting scholar at Massey College, University of Toronto in the last half of 2013 and visiting professor at the George Mason University School of Public Policy during the winter term of 2014. Dr. Dutil has been a frequent commentator on public affairs on radio and television in Toronto and in the national media. His opinion pieces have appeared in the National Post, Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, CBC.ca, Winnipeg Free Press and La Presse. For two years (2011-13) Dr. Dutil was a regular panelist on TFO’s weekly program “360.” Dr. Dutil edited Canadian Government Executive, a monthly magazine, from 2015 to 2017, and also sits on the editorial committee of the International Review of Administrative Sciences. Dr. Dutil has also been the Editor of the IPAC Series in Public Administration and Governance published with the University of Toronto Press and of the Collection Administration et gouvernance published with the Presses de l'Université du Québec since 2009.
