B.I.S.D. sensitized films award (Ed Juris)

Item is a photograph featuring an image of three men, including Ed Juris, holding two documents. One is from the Quality Management Program at Kodak, the other is a Quality First, Silver Award from the Quality Management Program presented to Kodak Canada Inc. in 1988 for BISD (Business Imaging Systems Division) sensitized films. The photograph was taked on the 5th floor of Building 7 at Kodak Heights.

Item is a basic, small-sized camera made of Bakelite and featuring a flip-up frame and viewfinder. A rotary shutter is operated by a lever under the miniscus lens. It made a picture size of 6 x 4 cm using 127 type film.

Item is a small brownie eyelevel rollfilm camera with a black, moulded plastic body and a braided carrying strap. It is considered to be an upgrade from the Baby Brownie because of its direct optical viewfinder and easy-to-use shutter release. Originally sold for US $1.00, it used 127 film and had a meniscus lens and rotary shutter.

The file is comprised of 42 black and white acetate negatives. A selection accompanied "Banff 1958," a transcription of three addresses by Paul Rudolph at the annual Session at Banff and published in The Canadian Architect in March of 1959.

It has an optical viewfinder with superimposed coupled rangefinder and a 3 element lens that is mildly radioactive. Equipped with Kodak Ektanon Lens.

Barn raising, boating, and other outside pursuits

These photographs share few similarities in image content besides all being taken out-of-doors. Four images show a barn raising, and sixteen images are of boats, including the "Stoney Lake" and the "Modello." One photograph is of a man in a wheatfield--written on verso is "What do you think of this for Western Wheat 10 mi.'s from Regina?" The other photograph written on verso is of a man and an airplane--"Douglas Lindsay out on the Sask. River Jan. 15 / 36 at Prince Albert where the fish bask from Leechee (sp?) Rouge is situated."

Recorded in the Atlantic Ocean from Harbor Branch Oceanographic. Otis Barton joins the Johnson Sea Link Sub Crew for a commemorative dive. Barton was a pioneer underwater explorer and the designer of the bathysphere (1930). This recording documents the above water conversation after the dive. This is the last of four recordings that document this commemorative dive. The bathysphere was designed by underwater explorers Otis Barton and William Beebee and took its first plunge in 1930. A bathysphere consists of a steel sphere with small circular windows of fused quartz. Inside it are the required oxygen tanks. During dives, these vessels were lowered into the water with cables and chains. During its first year, the bathysphere design could already dive to depths of 1,426 feet, two years later breaking records at 3,028 feet. Many discoveries about the deep sea were made from the confines of these vessels.

Bayview Playhouse programs

File consists of 5 theatre programs from the Bayview Playhouse. Located at 605 Bayview Avenue. It opened in 1936 as the Bayview Theatre, and closed in 1961 as a movie theatre. It reopened again in the 1980s as the Bayview Playhouse, a venue for live theatre, and remained as such until the 1990s when in became a food store.

Item consists of a Bell & Howell 240 motion picture camera. It is in a hard leather case also containing the manual and the case key. The camera uses 16mm film, has automatic exposure control, a 20mm lens, a self threading mechanism, has 32-fott film run and rapid winding crank, a reserve power indicator, and accepts a cable release.

There is a dial on the front of the camera to select aperture, light settings, and black & white or colour. It has a two-toned brown body and a winding knob on the side.

Unedited live action footage of six-gill sharks attempting to get at bait in a cage. The recording climaxes when two six-gill sharks fight mouth to mouth. The recording also includes other types of deep ocean animal life like crabs, eels and/or fish and an unidentified translucent creature. The recording is shot from the Mir 1 submersible as documented in Deep Sea Sharks Bermuda 4,000, an edited and produced version of this recording.
