Kodak Canada Ad Ledger, 1913-1921

Item is a ledger containing newspaper clippings from 1913 to 1921 pertaining to a variety of aspects of Kodak's operations. Despite its content, the item appears to have been compiled by Kodak as its first "advertising ledger." These ledgers, containing clippings and proofs of Kodak's advertising of a variety of products, likely evolved in content and format from this first ledger.

Advertising proofs binder

Item contains advertising proofs created for Kodak Canada Ltd., by The Baker Advertising Agency Ltd. in 1927, as well as a list of newspapers advertisements where the ads were published, and select rotogravure newspaper clippings of sections containing the Kodak advertisements. Most of the advertisements relate to the Cine-Kodak Amateur film camera, which had recently been introduced in 1923.

File contains prints featuring images of advertisements for Kodak instant cameras, including a diagram of the process fluid, and Kodamatic instant color film. Also included are promotional images of Kodacolor film. Many are filed with captions. The caption for an image advertising Kodamatic Trimprint instant color film reads: "A cold winter's day is an ideal time to organize your pictures into albums. Remember that the Kodamatic Trimprints, when they have been separated from their backing, can be mounted or trimmed like conventional prints."

File contains promotional images of people riding bicycles in the rain, trees with narrow trunks, graduation ceremonies, and sculptures. All include captions, such as a close up of leaves: "Just about all of the new Kodak S Series cameras provide ways of adding flash to pictures taken in bright sunlight. File contains a variety of promotional images, including beauty portraits, city landscapes, desert landscapes, Kodak cameras, sand dune shorelines, and goats. Many include captions, such as a print of a group of girls at a picnic table "If you receive an invitation to an outdoor gathering you cannot attend, you might send a Kodak Fling 35 camera in your place. Other attendees can use the camera-film combination easily to capture some of the merriment in pictures."

File includes commercial prints of children blowing bubbles, sitting on stairs, and flushing the toilet. Some have captions enclosed, such as one of a young girl observing a photograph that reads "Watching her own picture develop before her eyes will delight and fascinate your child and help make her an interested model as well."

Kodak promotional images of bullfighting, fishing, football and nature

File contains promotional images of various sporting and nature activities, including fishing, bull fighting, a deer in a sunset, baby birds in a nest, a white dove, a dog looking through a hole in a fence, a deer and fawn, and football. Kodak window displays, Christmas 1965

File contains colour negatives featuring images of Kodak products piled as Christmas presents, such as the Instamatic M4 and the complete Super 8 home movie oufit, beneath a 'Season's Greetings' picture with hand drawn signs that have slogans like 'open me first' or 'gift idea'. Kodak promotional shots of sailboats, cyclers, golfers

File contains promotional colour photographs of sporting activities. Eight prints are duplicate prints of a saiil boat, with the caption "This colorful photo of catamarans in full sail is now on view as the latest Kodarama...This print was made on new Kodak Ektacolor 2001 paper." inserted with each image. Similarly, there are four prints of a man golfing mid-swing, five prints of a group of cyclers approaching the camera head-on, and a single print of a group of men wearing Kodak hockey jerseys posed for a group portrait on an ice rink.

Kodak commercial advertising photographs

Commerical photographs: one still life of a tea set, one advertising a fisher price camera for children - the image is of three children (two boys and a girl) and a note with the photograph reads "Put a camera in the hands of children and sharpen your own view of the world. The Fisher-Price camera was designed for younsters in the five-to-eight-year-old group". Four are head shots of a young man wth a mohawk. Two are of Grey Line red double decker buses with Kodak advertising on the side of the buses. Two are studio shots of Kodak cameras with boxes of Kodak film. One is of men in the middle of a soccer game, this photograph includes a note that reads "Participants in the 1986 Kodak 'Run for the Money' color reporduction contest will be working from this colorful sports action photo in their attempts to accurately reproduce the image for the ninth annual Kodak 'Run for the Money." Other images are still lifes of coloured umbrellas, chalk, and casino lights taken at night. As well as two commercial 'beauty' shots of two women.

Kodak promotional panoramic mountain view

File contains a panoramic mountain view. Enclosed with the print is a caption that reads: "A panoramic vista snapped with the new Kodak Stretch 35 camera. A great travelling companion!" The Stretch 35 was a 35 mm single-use camera loaded with 12 frames of Kodacolor Gold 200. It was manufactured during 1989.
