3D stereobox stereoscopic viewer

Item is a green plastic view master with original box packaging. Three-dimensional colour transparency reel depicts frontier puppets. Reels are interchangeable. Reels are inserted into the top of the view master and switched by the plastic push down lever on the side.

Airequipt stereo theatre viewer

This item is a grey and red metal personal viewer with a built in light source to illuminate backs of colour transparencies. Viewer can be adjusted by either knob on the sides or top. The push leaver on the side rotates the images within the reel.

Athletics team season photographs 2015-2016

File contains photographs taken of Interuniversity teams at different games, matches, and some team photos. Included are women's hockey, men's hockey, women's basketball, men's basketball, women's volleyball, men's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer and badminton. They were potentially used for the 2015-2016 athletic banquet.

Photographs of aerial exhibitions at Texas Love Field Air Corps Training Depot on November 12 and 13, 1918 to celebrate the end of WWI. Fairly detailed notations included as text printed directly onto the images. Images show pilots and early airplanes, photographs of blimps; select number of aerial photographs of the land with respective geographic locational coordinates, crowds of spectators, parachute jump - with flags, images of airplane crashes.

BOG First Student Members photographs

Ten black and white photographs taken during the 1968 BOG election. These photographs document the first time students were permitted to elect two representatives to sit on the Board. The first two members were Richard Finlay and Gord Jackson.The photographs, filed in a binder, were removed from the binder and their plastic sleeves, then placed inside an acid-free file folder.

The collection contains stereoscopic photographs, viewers, and cameras, collected by the donors between the 1970's and the 1990's and dating from the 1850's to the 1990's. Material includes a variety of viewers, cameras, photographs, and ephemera relating to three-dimensional photography.

Big Bird 3D camera viewer

Item is a blue plastic camera shaped three-dimensional viewer. The 3D viewer has a built-in reel of 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of Sesame Street characters teaching the alphabet. Unlike traditional View-Masters, this reel cannot be removed. A small Big Bird with his own camera sits on top of the body of the viewer. This object was designed for children's entertainment and education. A orange push down button on the front of the camera is used to switch scenes. Written on the front of the camera is the Sesame Street Logo.

Brown and white tin hand held stereoscopic viewer

Item is a compact, collapsible brown and white tin hand held viewer. Item comes with 50 lithographic stereograph cards of wild and domesticated animals. The first three cards in the collection are a table of contents explaining imagery in stereographs. This object was used to view two nearly identical photographs, or stereographs, as one three dimensional image. The stereograph would be placed in the sliding card holder and adjusted to fit the user's vision until the two images overlap to mimic a three-dimensional effect.

Campus exteriors

File contains photographic slides taken around campus. Included are aerial campus photos, Kerr Hall and the Quad, Victoria Lane - including the Podium and Library buildings, Lake Devo, Rogers Communication Centre, O'Keefe House, Pitman Hall, Student Campus Centre, the Normal School facade, and Yonge-Dundas re-development. Also include are photographs of flowers around campus and the Bird of Spring sculpture. A number of the photographs were taken during the winter.

Cardboard stereoscope with binocular lenses (unknown)

This item is a handheld stereoscope with binocular lenses made from cardboard. The body of the stereoscope is able to extend. This object was used to view two nearly identical photographs, or stereographs, as one three dimensional image. The stereograph would first be placed in the sliding card holder. Once viewed through the viewer the two images would merge together to mimic a three-dimensional photograph. Object comes with one glass plate stereograph of a elaborately designed baroque room.

Colour Magic Lantern Slide

Item is an automatic coloured magic lantern slide containing several hand painted glass slides that could be rotated against each other with a small attached hand crank. Hand crank appears to be made of wood, as does the mount.

Departmental display boards

Seven oversized foamcore boards with photographs, text, and newspaper clippings on them. The boards are titled: Awards night; [Hotel students' associations]; [laboratory work]; Ryerson of the Past; The Beginning; Bake Shop 1950's; [Visitors?].

Dick Whittington

Magic lantern used to project this type of circular slide was of German design, and was available c.1850. Magic lantern slides were popular in the 1890s. This design was for domestic use, and the slide was illuminated by an oil lamp,and projected a circular image. The slides, often hand coloured, were often mounted six to a small disk. This one in particular has eight hand coloured images. It tells the story of Dick Whittington, and English folktale, the title is written on the slide in three languages, English, French and German (Gesetzlich Geschutzt). It is the story of a young man who makes his fortune in London, with his cat.

Eggy (mascot costume)

File contains photographs of Eggy (costumed mascot) in various places and at various events including a women's basketball game, women's soccer game, in the Kerr Hall gym, at convocation, and with children from the Early Learning Centre.

Electric view master stereoscope (model D)

Item is a brown handheld electric view master first manufactured by Swayer's Inc and first introduced at the New York World Fair (1939-1940). Once pressed down the lever on the side of the viewer will rotate the reel one frame at a time once pressed. Unlike previous view masters, this view master comes with a built in back light attached to an electrical cord. Once turned on the back light illuminates transparencies on view. Item is made of plastic and metal. Reel has 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of The Atlas of Human Anatomy, Head and Neck.
