Athletic facility 2009 referendum posters

On November 24, 2008 the Board of Governors of Ryerson University approved a referendum from among all graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in full- and part-time degree programs on a question of supporting the construction and operation of a new Sports and Recreation facility. File includes posters, emails, memos, stickers, and news stories

RU Ryerson student video contest

RU Ryerson inaugural video contest occured in 2009. The idea behind the contest was initiated by President Sheldon Levy after he saw a similar contest at Waterloo University. The contest was student run with support from the President's office - donating the prize money for the top three videos.

This file consists of textual records and DVD from the 2009 and 2010 iteration of the RU Ryerson contest.

CBC $50 Million Extension Plan press conference

RYERSONIAN, February 15 article, photographs re. Press Conference held at Ryerson announcing the $50 million extension plan for CBC. The Secretary of State, Hugh Faulkner, addressed approximately 120 RTA students and members of the Toronto press. RTA Chair, John Twomey, was instrumental in arranging this event.

The Pitch

This is an assignment for course BRD 044 (Business Aspects of Independent Television Production) whereby six teams of students try to sell their proposed series to a team of industry insiders.

Ryerson 50th Anniversary

This is a working file, which was maintained by the Archivist, on the Archives' involvement in Ryerson's 50th Anniversary celebrations and events in 1998. It includes, among other things, information and documentation on the Ryerson History project, the Board of Governors Reception held in the Archives, the Open House/Homecoming Day in October and the "50th Memories" photographic feature which appeared in FORUM.

Palin Hall official dedication materials

File contains a register for the dedication ceremony of Eric Palin Hall, held on October 15th 1971 (building is as of 2013 called Oakam House). File also contains an invitation and guest list to the official dedication to re-name the Technology Annex to Eric Palin Hall held on Feb 9th 1979.

Photographic Arts Centre official opening materials

A binder documenting the preparation for the official opening of the Photographic Arts Centre. Although the enclosed index lists items to be contained in the binder, not everything was included.The material has been removed from the binder, but kept in the original plastic sleeves.

Orientation materials

This Orientation file is for the years 1952 - 1983. Included is a pennant that was handed out to new students for the 1968 orientation.

Toque Tuesday materials

As part of the Canadian Federation of Students' cross- Canada event "Raising the Roof: Solutions for Canada's Homeless" program, February 2nd, 1999 was designated as 'Toque Tuesday' at Ryerson. Ryerson students sold toques on the streets and in subway stations to raise money for this program. This has become an annual event during the month of February.
Included in the file are posters advertising the initiative and 2 toques - one black and one blue.

Student Campus Centre -Time Capsule Project

A file documenting the Student Campus Centre "Time Capsule" project. The file consists of thefollowing:

  1. Letter from Ryesac listing their time capsule contents
  2. Letter from CESAR listing their time capsule contents
  3. Copy of a letter from Ryesac that was included in the time capsule
  4. Floor plans of the Student Centre with a red X marking the location of the buried time capsules.

Memorial Service: Stan Heath: Videocassette, Slides

A DVCPRO master cassette and a VHS cassette of the memorial service for Stan Heath, Dean/Faculty of Business, who died suddenly on Septebmer 7, 1999. A collection of slides presenting a brief insight into the life of Stan Heath were shown at the memorial service.

Sheldon Levy installation

This file contains 3 copies of Program for Installation of the President and Vice-Chancellor, list of representatives of the university and community colleges joined the academic procession for Installation ceremony, 3 invitations, 3 posters, 1 ticket to the ceremony, and ceremony reservation reply card.

50th Anniversary Celebration materials

Collection includes: Notices, invitations, artifacts, speech, Christmas card, Ryerson wall calendars and slides of calendar photographs, A History of Ryerson, Guest Book, etc. received through internal mailings and accessions

Convocation records

Records consists of convocation programmes, transcripts of speeches/addresses, press kits, photographs, invitations, cassette tapes, some videocassettes and related documentation.

In December 1996, the name of the Office of Development, Alumni and Community Relations was changed to University Advancement Office and, thus, responsible for Convocation and ceremonies until 2008 with the creation of a separate department, the Office of Convocation and Awards.

Invitation to ball to meet the Prince of Wales

Invitation to Ball. Special Events

Canadian Architect Photography Preview and Reception

Materials include posters, postcards and digital photographs (partial finding aid available). Reception and Preview held during the Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada. Please see RG 3.92 for materials concerning this conference.

Science Rendezvous

The file consists of pamphlets, a poster, and programmes for Ryerson events of the city-wide free festival that promotes an interest in science.

The inaugural festival was held on May 10, 2008 in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and in 2011expanding nation wide. Ryerson University began participating during its second year on May 9, 2009.

Convocation textual materials

Sub-series contains textual materials created for convocation ceremonies. Included are tickets, instruction, and programs for each ceremony.

Snow, Rain, Light, Wind : Weathering Architecture

The book consists of artistic photographs and text, with an accompanying DVD of snow, rain, light, and wind in moving images and still photographs, including those projected on building exteriors. File also contains a news release on the book.

Official council launch program
