Documentary Films series

Series consists of biographical films about Vladimir Ilyich Lenin (1870-1924), leader of the Soviet Union and father of Communism. These films were created and produced in the Russian Soviet State and reflect the ideals of the state and the popular interpretation of Lenin's life and work. The 17 film reels make up the following 4 movies: "Lenin is alive" (1969), "Lenin: pages of the biography" (1969), "Gorki Leninskie" (1984), "Lenin documents, facts, recollections" (1969). A DVD was added to the collection in 2010 that depicts the public speeches and demonstrations taking place in Vilnius, Lithuania during the dissolution of the Lithuanian Soviet State, including the tearing down of a statue of Lenin in the city centre.

Gorki Leninskie = Lenin's Hills [moving image]

The film recounts the life and work of V. I. Lenin from fall 1918 to January 1924 by taking the viewer through a tour of his residence, popularly known as Lenin's Hills. The film focuses on the scenery as it follows guided tours through the property, rooms and parks, including the main building and guest houses, their exterior and interior. The film also introduces the major events of Lenin's life in that period, and shows some of Lenin's personal possessions. Live footage of Lenin, his funeral and photographs, are incorporated into the production.

Induced by radical change in Lithuanian sociocultural and political structure, new forms of identity emerge, and are exhibited in public spaces during organized or spontaneous activities. STAI IR MES(=Here We Are), a documentary film, theoretically is grounded in "Recreating Ethnic Identity: Individual, Symbol, Place" by Auksuole Cepaitiene. Video material used in the film covers the time period 1989 to 2007.
