Business Management - Link program

File contains two photographs taken at the Link program open house for Ryerson first year Business students. The Link program was a pilot program to equip 80 business students with laptops - helping to make them more adept at information skills. One of the photographs was published in the September 6, 1996 edition of the FORUM newsletter.

Ryerson Athletic Centre (RAC)

File contains photographs of the Ryerson Athletic Centre (RAC) located in the Kerr Hall Quad. Included are photographs of architectural renderings and the model; construction; empty interiors; and activities taking place in the RAC.

Audrey Cohn-Sandler reading room

File contains photographs taken of the Audrey Cohn-Sandler reading room that opened on November 19th on the 6th floor of the Learning Resources Centre. There are photographs of people in the reading room and photographs of the memorial plaque.

Student Centre plan unveiling

File contains photographs taken in October 1991 at the unveiling of the plans for the Student Centre on Gould Street. Included are photographs of the architectural model, an architectural rendering, and photographs from the unveiling. In the photographs are President Terry Grier, and two former RSU presidents Mark Lemieux and Janet Piper. Also included in the file is a line drawing of proposed building. Photograph published in the October 25, 1991 FORUM.

Student Residences - Pitman Hall and ILLC

File contains photographs of Pitman Hall - exterior, interior, and construction and the International Living/Learning Centre exterior. Also included in the file are drawings of the exterior, a floor plan, and a room sketch for Pitman Hall.

Convocation

Sub-series contains photographs taken during Ryerson's annual convocation ceremonies. Sub-series has been divided into files by year.

Convocation, 1990

File contains photographs taken at the Spring convocation ceremonies on June 13, 14, and 15 and Fall Convocation on October 20. The photographs are of fellowship honourees. Included are photographs of June Callwood, who received a fellowship at the June 13 Applied Arts convocation ceremony in the morning; Douglas J. Cardinal, who received a fellowship at the June 13 Technology convocation ceremony in the afternoon; Rosemary Brown, who received a fellowship at the June 14 Arts and Community Services convocation ceremony; Roberta Bondar, who received a fellowship at the June 15 Business convocation ceremony; and David Crombie, who received his fellowship at the October 20 convocation ceremony. Also included are two photographs from the fall convocation of the procession and children from the Child care holding a sign.

The photographs include fellowship honourees: Monique Frize and Rose Sheinin at the June 16 Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science ceremony; Margaret Norquay at the June 16 Faculty of Applied Arts ceremony; Jos Wintermans at the June 17 Faculty of Business ceremony; Marie Sanderson and Gordon Fairweather at the June 18 Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Community Services ceremony; Wilson Head and Glenda Simms at the June 18 Faculty of Community Services ceremony; and William Siegel and Janice Moyer at the June 17 Faculty of Business ceremony.
The other photographs include students receiving the first degrees under Ryerson's new university status - Ryerson Polytechnic University.

Convocation, 1995

File contains photographs taken at the Spring convocation ceremonies on June 21, 22, and 23. The photographs include fellowship honourees: Romeo Dalliere at the June 21 Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Community Services ceremony; and A. L. Flood and Nuala Beck at the June 23 Faculty of Business ceremony. Also in the file are many photographs of the graduands processions before the ceremonies and of graduates and medal winners in the Kerr Hall Quad afterwards.

File contains photographs taken at the Spring convocation ceremonies on June 16, 17, 19, and 20. The photographs include doctorate honourees: Judd Buchanan, doctor of laws at the June 17 Faculty of Business ceremony; Murray Enkin, doctor of laws at the June 20 Faculty of Community Services cermony; Linda Lundstrom, doctor of laws at the June 16 Faculty of Applied Arts morning ceremony; and Jacques Hebert, doctor of laws at the June 16 Faculty of Applied Arts afternoon ceremony. Also included in the file are a photograph of Jim Packham and his wife, medal winners, and the Midwifery class posing with Murray Enkin.

Nutrition, Consumer, and Family Studies (NCFS) students and alumni

File contains photographs published in the FORUM newsletter. Included are two photographs of NCFS student Sylvie Boulet, her husband Phillip Aubin and their son Sylvia; One photograph of NCFS graduate Lisa Braverman '91 and Claude Lajeunesse with her Bachelor of Applied science degree; and One photograph of NCFS student Charles Bruce-Thompson.

RTA Faculty and students

File contains photographs of Faculty and staff. The photographs are mostly composed of projects the faculty were involved in. Included in the file are photographs of Jon Keeble, RTA chair, and Ross McCreath, president of the Canadian Communications Foundation for the launch of the CCF website about the history of private broadcasting which Keeble was involved in creating; Professor Clive VanderBurgh with his "Kids TV Research" project; and Photographs from the launch of Ryerson's Spirit Radio station and the station co-ordinator Mark Banbury, an RTA graduate and instructor in the school. Also included in the file are 2 copies of a photograph of an Ryerson RTA student Melanie Green with Jay Leno - she interned on his show. This photograph was published in the 1996 edition of the Rambler magazine.

Alumni Achievement Awards

File contains one photograph of Business Management professor Roy Morley, President and CEO of Loyalty Management International Robert Gierkink, and Ryerson President Claude Lajeunesse. Robert Gierkink graduated from the Business Management in 1985.

Ernie "the Hot Dog Man"

File contains photographs of Ernie manning his hot dog cart at the corner of Gould and Victoria Lane. Photographs also show the renovation of the Lake Devo pond.

Videotape: Ryerson Honours David Crombie: Chancellor

A brief (7:40 minutes) retrospect of David Crombie's life and career at Ryerson, presented at a farewell reception, celebrating the end of Crombie's term as Ryerson's first Chancellor. Terry Grier, Al Wargo, Lynda Friendly and Claude Lajuenesse gave brief personal comments about the individual, David Crombie.

BOG Elections/Referenda

Four binders (probably maintained by the Chief Returning Officer) containing preparation/procedure documentation for the BOG elections and any referendum during the periods 1986/87, 1988/89 (RESS Referendum), 1990/91 and 1992/93 (CKLN Referendum).

Ryerson and Ryerson University signs

Three silver signs with "RYERSON" in blue and three white signs with "RYERSON UNIVERSITY" in dark and light blue. Information provided is that these signs were used on lecterns at various campus events.

Ryerson chair - drawings and photographs

Drawings and digital (cd) images of Ryerson's official "Chair". The cd documents the various stages of the production of the chair, designed by Interior Design student Agata Jaworski. This chair was the winner in a competition among Ryerson's Interior Design students. The chair serves as a gift to major benefactors to the University. An image (chair and designer) has been printed from the cd and placed inside the file folder.

Sign - Welcome To Ryerson

Poster mounted on foamcore. It is a four-color shot of the clock tower with"Welcome To Ryerson - Ryerson University" on it. Used at Ryerson events. This item became obsolete with the change of Ryerson's logo.

2000 ceremony

File contains materials relating the Alumni Achievement Awards held Saturday October28, 2000 in the the Ryerson Theatre. After ceremony reception was held in Jorgenson Hall in the Olive Baker lounge.
The Alumni Award of Distinction winners were: Judith Bernhard, ECE '79; Frank Gardi, RTA '59; Robert W. Gierkink, Business Management '86; Brian Stewart, '64. The Outstanding Recent Graduate Award went to Joeffer Caoc, Fashion '93.
There was a special presentation to the Class of 1950, Ryerson's first graduating class.
Included in the file are programs, a photograph of the first winners, tickets, posters, and a mock-up board showing what the wall of fame would look like.

2005 ceremony

File contains programmes and invitations for the ceremony held in the Centre for Computing and Engineering atrium. Alumni Award of Distinction honourees were: Rick Brace, RTA '75; Carol M. Couchie, '98; David Keighley, Photographic Arts '72; Wendy Muller HTM '78 and Janet Rosenberg, Landscape Architecture '76. The Isadore Sharp Outstanding Recent Graduate Award was given to Mark J. W. Bishop and Matthew Hornberg, both RTA '98.

Architecture Grad - Greg Papp

Greg Papp an Architectural Science grad on the Dean's List set to graduate from Ryerson in 1997. Left paralized from a mountain bike accident, through his determination he was able to finish his program. A page taken from Forum July 1997 page 6 entitled "Beating the odds".

Queen's Silver Jubilee Award presentation

Frederic Lebrun a third year Aerospace student is one of the students to win the Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee award. Claude Lajeunesse presented him with a certificate of merit and he also received a cash award of $5,000. The Queen Elizabeth Silver Jubilee award encourages young Canadians to improve proficiency in their second official language by studying at a university which functions in the other official language. From Forum April 11,1997 pg.8 "Student from Quebec wins $5,000 award.

Seniors' Microcomputer Lab dedication

Dedication of the seniors microcomputer lab in Palin Hall . The computers were a donation from IBM. and the lab will be run by the L.I.F.E. Institutue. Claude Lajeunesse, Marilynn Booth, Ayman Antoun (IBM), Cam Jackson (Minister Responsible for Seniors) and Harold Wakefield (President of the L.I.F.E. Institue) was there for the ribbon cutting and dedication of the lab. A picture of seniors checking out the new equipment appeared in "Forum, July 1997 vol. 22, no. 12.

A list of honorary doctoral degrees was presented to the following recipients for the 1997 convocation, the list included Linda Lundstrom (Doctor of Laws), Jacques Hebert (Docator of Laws), Judd Buchanan (Doctor of Laws), Sam Sniderman (Doctor of Commerce), Marian Packham (Doctor of Science), Peter Laughton (Doctor of Engineering), Murray Enkin (Doctor of Laws), Anne Golden(Doctor of Laws)

Nursing Honour Society

Ryerson School of Nursing inaugural induction ceremony, May 29, 1997, inducted the first members into its Honour Society in recognition of excellence in research, practice and scholarly activity. The standing-room-only induction ceremony in May saw 163 individuals become members, including faculty, alumni, students and nursing leaders from the professional community. Janice Waddell ( co-chair steering committee) read the opening remarks and welcome, Sue Williams (Director School of Nursing) said the welcoming remarks, Judith Sandys (Dean) more greetings and remarks. Ministry of Labour - donation

Pictures of Elizabeth Witmer, Claude Laguenesse and Chief Librarian Richard Malinski acceptance ceremony in the library. This special occasion was to mark the donation of Ministry of Labour Library's collection to the Ryerson Library

Human Resources Orientation for Chairs

John Cowan of Queen's University was keynote speaker at the orientation session for chairs, who are central to achieving the mission of the university, The orientation called for a lot of interaction among chairs, something that typically dosesn't happen in the course of the school year. Dr. Dewson commended Larissa Allen and Sandy Schwartz of Human Resources for organizing the orientation. Article appeared in Forum, September 12, 1997 "Orienting chairs'.

Career Fair

Companies and Banks such as Bell Canada, Sun Life, Canada Trust and Ford Canada were on campus recruiting and head hunting students.
