This item contains a series of black and white acetate negatives commissioned by The Canadian Architect periodical to accompany a special issue on Shopping Centres and published October 1958. James H. Acland and James F. Harris are identified as authors of the sections of the magazine relating to shopping centres.

Item is a 35 mm cameras with 1/30 - 1/500 shutter speeds and a Helios 44 mm f2 lens. The camera has an uncoupled selenium meter and a match-needle on top housing. The match-needle was a system of exposure metering commonly used in the 1960's and 1970's. The system used small needles (similar to small watch hands) that lined up to indicate the level of exposure.

Florence Nightingale letter to Louise Darche

Letter written to Louise Darche from Florence Nightingale. Louise Darche was the superintendent of The New York City Training School for Nurses from 1888-1898. The two met when Miss Darche travelled to London in 1893. In the letter Florence Nightingale references Henry Bonham Carter, her first cousin and Secretary of the Nightingale Fund. The photograph (RG 946.02.02.02) was also referenced in the letter and was sent by Mr. Bonham Carter to Miss Darche.

Folder contains 6 b&w photographs of the Kiyooka residence in Vancouver, B.C. A residence for artist Roy Kenzie Kiyooka and his wife Monica Kiyooka. Winner ward for residential design 1971 from the Canadian Housing Design Council. The designer of the residence was Mrs. Monica Kiyooka.
Caption on verso: "A delightful house which takes full advantage of a forest-river orientation...an open, stepped, plan with soaring spaces."
