Little Octobrists' Rules banner

White banner with white tassels depicting scenes of children doing lawn work, helping others, receiving medals. All children are wearing a red star. Also, appearing in the centre of the banner, is a red star with a childhood image of Vladimir Illyich Lenin. This red star is a symobl of the Little Octobrists. The Russian word appears on the banner. This banner provides the rules of the Little Octobrists: they will be pioneers; they will like school and respect their elders; only those who enjoy work will be called Little Octobrists; they are to be truthful, courageous, dexterous and skillful; and they are to read, draw, play, sing and live happily. Little Octobrist is a Soviet term that first appeared in 1923-1924, and at that time referred to children born in 1917, the year of the October revolution. Later, the term was used as the name of a youth organization for children between 7 and 9 years of age. After the age of nine, Little Octobrists would typically join the Young Pioneer organization for ages 9 to 14, after which they joined the Komsomol organization for ages 14 to 28.Little Octobrists were organized in groups by grade level that were divided into subgroups called little stars, of 5 children each. Each group was under the leadership of one Young Pioneer. Every Little Octobrist wore a ruby-coloured five-pointed star badge with the portrait of Vladimir Illyich Lenin in his childhood. The symbol of the group was the little red flag.

They are addressed to Mr. Comrade H. Puskunigiui. The copy with the years 1917-1977 congratulates him and his staff on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the October Socialist Revolution. Another card congratulates him and his staff on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the October Socialist Revolution. Another card is an invitation to a formal sitting dedicated to the USSR State Construction Committee and construction and building materials industry workers' unions of the Central Committee of Red Flag. It was to be held at the Agricultural Construction Design Institute's Institute Hall on March 5 at 3pm.. The cards are issued and signed by Agricultural Construction Design Institute Director B. Rilys, party secretary A. Loda, local trade union chair J. Girdzius, Komsomol secretary A. Liksa.

Portrait of Lenin

Ten loosely rolled posters with the same photographic portrait of Lenin. Two posters have been removed to Box LN22 because of their small size. Beneath Lenin's portrait reads: V. I. Lenin. The photographer was P. A. Otsupa. It was produced in Moscow.

New Komsomol Member Citation

Citation cards with ribbon graphic and profile drawing of Lenin. On recto, there is text congratulating the new Komsomol member and space for a photograph of member. On verso, design with Soviet crests and images at significant dates. It reads: 1928 - In commemoration of combat merit for outstanding heroism during the civil war and foreign intervention. 1931 - For the initiative taken for the shock work and socialist competition, to ensure a successful implementation of the first five-year economic development plan of the country. 1945 - For outstanding services to the country during World War II, for the great work of educating Soviet youth in the spirit of selfless devotion to the Fatherland. 1948 - For outstanding services to the country in the case of education of Soviet youth and active participation in Socialist construction, in connection with the 30th anniversary of the founding of Kosomol. 1956 - For great contribution in Socialist building, emphasizing the selfless work of boys and girls in the successful development of virgin and fallow lands. 1968 - For outstanding achievements in Socialist and Communist construction, for the fruitful work of educating the younger generation and in connection with the 50th anniversary of the founding of Kosomol. Beneath that text reads a quote attributed to V. I. Lenin: Union Communist youth should be a shock group, which through any work demonstrates its help, exerts its iniative, its handsel. Beneath that reads: All-Union Lenin (adj.) Communist Union of Youth.

The filled in portion is in Lithuanian and reads: On the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution, Comrade Stepas Luksta is recognized for his good work and social activities. It is signed by the party director, committee secretary and the trade union chair.
The art is by V. Rodionov and it was produced in Moscow. A bit of Ukrainian is written on verso.

Folded citation card with profile portrait of Lenin on a red cover, addressed to a recipient in black ink and stamped. On verso, it reads: Certificate of Merit. Inside there is a quote by L. I Brezhnev. It also reads: Proletariat of all countries, unite! Certificate of Merit. It reads: Awarded to Shaulis Povilas Yuozovich for good Soviet attitude, high quality performance of tasks, in honour of the builder. It is signed by the head of construction boards "Stroiindustriya" V. F. Kotsarev, party bureau secretary O. M. Pakhomkova and Predpostroikoma V. M. Sozonov.

Citation to a new Little Octobrist

Citation cards with badge design of the Little Octobrists. It is meant to be given to a child that achieves Little Octobrist status. On recto, there is a design featuring Lenin as a child within a red star with emanating rays, a message to the new Little Octobrist, a space to attach a photograph of the Little Octobrist and a space for notes. On verso, red star graphic with smaller designs featuring children participating in many of the activities associated with the club, including sports, agriculture and music. It reads: We have five rules and we will achieve them. The rules are listed on the right-hand side, written as poetry. The art work was done by A. Finogenov and the cards were produced in Moscow.
