File contains six copies of the book, "From Cradle to Computer, A history of St. James Square, the birthplace of Ontario education" written by Ryerson history professor, Ronald Stagg and published for Ontario's Bicentennial.

Convocation 1950

File contains final and draft versions of programmes and speeches for Ryerson's first convocation ceremonies held in 1950. File also contains three photographic prints from the event. One photo is of "the Honourable Dana Porter, Minister of Education, making an address in the old Ryerson Hall." The second photo is of a student "receiving her diploma from Dr. F. S. Rutherford, Deputy Minister of Education, in old Ryerson Hall." The third photo includes the caption "Ryerson's First Convocation, 1950, Dr. F. S. Rutherford, Deputy Minister of Education, Presenting a diploma to Robert Barber.

The frame matting for the photographs was inscribed with "School of Photography 1950."

Ryerson Review, The

The magazine was mailed to alumni once a year during the summer, keeping alumni up-to-date on the school. Only three issues were published before another alumni magazine replaced it.

Convocation and Awards Nights records

Records consists of convocation programmes, transcripts of speeches/addresses, photographs, invitations, cassette/reel-to-reel tapes, correspondence and miscellaneous related documentation.

During the 1950s, convocation preparations were arranged by a Convocation Committee. Academic Council assumed responsibility in the 1960s until early 1980s, when the Information Services Department took over.

November 1986 the Department of Community Relations was established, incorporating Information Services, thereby assuming the responsibility of Convocation arrangements until 1995 when University Advancement took over until 2007. In 2008 the Office of Convocation and Awards assumed responsibility.

Contacts booklet

This booklet is a guide to the subject expertise of Ryerson faculty. It contains 76 pages and is divided into three sections: alphabetical listings by topic, languages spoken and faculty name. "Contacts" was initiated by the President's Office under the direction of Gail Scott, Executive Coordinator, Community Relations and was produced with the assistance of John North, Director of the Learning Resources Centre. Until 1986 when the Department of Community Relations was established, the Information Services Department was responsible for the distribution and updating of future publications.(Information Services was incorporated into the Department of Community Relations.)

Clare Howard Westcott framed honourary degree

Framed honourary degree granted to Clare Howard Westcott. Mr. Westcott was a member of Ryerson's Board of Governors as well as and aide to Ontario Premier William Davis. Premier Davis received Ryerson's first honourary degree in 1972.

Jorgenson Hall sod turning ceremony materials

File contains arrangement documentation, photographs, a photocopy of the original guest register, the original guest register etc. regarding the sod turning ceremony prior to the construction of Jorgenson Hall, the first phase in the planned expansion for the Ryerson campus.

One black and white photograph is Ryerson President Donald Mordell shaking hands with Ontario Premier William Davis, the first recipient of the newly granted Bachelor of Technology and Bachelor of Applied Arts degrees.
