The Kodak Canada collection contains records and artifacts from the Kodak Heights manufacturing facility in Toronto, as well as the historical collection belonging to the Kodak Heritage Collection Museum. The collection consists of photographs, negatives, advertising records, magazines, pamphlets, daily record books, recipe books, cameras and other photographic equipment produced by Kodak Canada Inc., or other Kodak plants around the world. The collection includes a small selection of financial records, blueprints for Kodak facilities in Canada, and other corporate ephemera, as well as photographs of events, buildings and individual employees that illustrate the social life of the company.

No. 3A Folding Pocket Kodak, Model B-2

Item is a 3A Folding Pocket Kodak, Model B-2?, one of Eastman Kodak's first postcard format camera. Made for use with rolls of 122 film it created 3 1/4 by 5 1/2 inch postcard format images. It had an automatic shutter that was equipped with a pneumatic release (no longer attached). It could also be adapted to take photographs on glass plates. It is a large sized folding camera with black leather casing and black leather bellows, metal clasps and metal/wooden slide.

Vest Pocket Kodak Autographic camera

Item is a Vest Pocket Autographic made for use with 127 film. It is a small camera with black casing and black leather bellows. A continuation of the Vest Pocket camera, it features an "Autographic" feature that allowed photographers to sign a note on the top of the film which became visible after the film was developed.

Item is a No. 1A Kodak Junior camera, made for use with type 116 film. It was later updated to the No. 1A Autographic Kodak Jr., that allowed the use of type 116 Autographic film. The No. 1A Junior is a medium sized camerawith black leather casing and bellows, metal clasps and slide.

Item is a promotional model of the Kodak Vest Pocket Model B, manufactured in 5 colours: blue, green, grey, lavender and pink. This version also includes an art deco pattern on the camera body, a particularly rare model. Marketed to young women, it was promoted as easy to use and small enough to fit in a lady's hand. Some models included a vanity carrying case, lined with sating and housign a lipstick, powder, rouge, clutch and mirror. Produced 4.5 x 6 cm exposures on 127 film.

Item is a camera with brown bakelite and metal case with two lenses for producing stereo views from 35mm film. Each is a Kodak Anaston lens with f3.5 (35mm). A single periscopic viewfinder is used, with a spirit level below to help keep the camera level in order to acheive good results. Light brown leather carrying case included.

Item is a Brownie 8mm Camera II, It has a beige body with pop up frame finder on top. Side comes off to insert film spools. "Brownie movie camera T.M. Reg. Can. Pat. Off." Lens is "Kodak Series IV Adapter Ring No. 43 Made in U.S.A." f/2.7 lens. Settings for Bright Sun, Hazy Sun, Cloudy Bright and Open Shade.

Cine-Kodak Magazine 8

Item consists of a Cine-Kodak Magazine 8 Camera. It was introduced in the United States in 1946 and manufactured until 1955. It is a clockwork-driven camera capable of running at 16, 26, 32 and 64 frames per second. It has a Kodak Cine Ektanon Lens 13mm f/1.9. The lens is interchangeable and the wheel at the top of the camera is used to alter the viewfinder image according to the focal length. On the side is a universal guide for different types of daylight.

Item is a Cine-Kodak Model B, the follow-up model of the Cine-Kodak which was the first 16mm camera. It has a cast aluminum body, hand crank and spring motor. The use of a tripod was required to allow varying speeds and single frames to be taken.

Item consists of a portrait format poster that reads "Kodak Gifts Say / Open me first! / When you open your Kodak camera outfit first, you can save all the fun of Christmas-and the years to come-in pictures" Beneath the text are images, prices, and brief descriptions of the Brownie Starflash Outfit camera, the Brownie Hawkeye Flash Outfit camera, the Kodak Pony IV Camera Outfit, and the Brownie Movie Camera Kit.

Kodak x-ray demonstration

File contains negatives featuring images of Kodak x-ray equipment and demonstrations of its use. There are examples including an x-ray image of a bell, a man at a monitor examining a human torso x-ray, men standing in a room equipped to take x-rays, and a woman preparing to be x-rayed and lying in an x-ray machine. Additionally, there is an image of an older Kodak building, of a box of one dozen Eastman Dupli-tized X-ray Films, and of a laboratory next to a window.

Solio paper : [empty sleeve]

Item consists of a sleeve for two dozen 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch Eastman Kodak Co. Solio Paper for export. A sticker on the front of the envelope reads "Cochran / Photo Supplies. / Hamilton, Ont." and stamped on the verso (extremely faded) reads: "This paper will not be [illegible] for / any fault of manufacture after / APR 27 1900 / EMULSION NO. 18758 / PACKED BY NO. 26".

Kodak Reference Handbooks and Technical Data

Sub-sub-series contains publications produced by Kodak for the consumer between 1940 and about 1995. Publications are pamphlets ranging from 1 to over 50 pages and intended to be stored in a series of specialized binders. The information pamphlets were published in series with an alpha numeric code, which form the sub series in this collection. Customers subscribed to receive updates based on their specific interest. Early publications, from the 1940's, were simply titled "Kodak Photographic Handbook" and later versions included: Kodak Reference Handbook, Kodak Industrial Handbook, Kodak Color Handbook, Kodak Graphic Arts Handbook, Kodak Professional and Industrial Data, and Kodak Scientific and Technical Data.

Each pamphlet has a unique, alpha-numeric Pamphlet Number, following classification scheme devised by Kodak to make ordering and subscription easy for clients. Schema is as follows:

Long Focus Premo

Item is a medium format studio camera. It resembles the Premo Sr., but features an extra long bellows that extends out the back of the camera. It is made of wood and polished laquered brass, and the body is covered with fine black leather. It is fitted with a Kodak Ball Bearing Shutter and a Kodak Anastigmat f7.7/170 mm lens.

No. 1A Gift Kodak

Item is a special version of the No. 1A Kodak Junior. It is a folding camera covered in brown leather with an enameled brown, silver and red art deco design on shutter faceplate and front door. Features black bellows and metal hinges. For use with 116 roll film, it is a medium sized camera that makes a picture size of 2 1/4 x 4 1/4".

No. 2 Folding Cartridge Hawk-Eye, Model C

Item is a leatherette covered folding camera for exposures on 120 film. Originally designed and produced by the Boston Camera Company, Hawk-Eye camera production changed hands twice, once in 1890 when sold to the Blair Camera Company, then again in 1907, when Eastman Kodak purchased the company. Simple lens and rotary shutter. Black leather body and bellows.

Item is a small camera with a rectagular body made of black plastic and a green #2 on the top. Made for use with 110 cartridge film, it is a basic camera with fixed focus and a flipflash connector. Made for the Canadian market, this camera is labelled in French and English, and reads "appareil Kodak EKTRA camera" in silver beside the green #2. The Ektra 2 is unique in that it features an exposure guide for different types of film printed on the base in white.

Item is a compact viewfinder camera with a built-in electronix flash, made for use with 110 cartridge film. Manufactured for the Canadian market, its nameplate reads: "appareil Kodak EKRALITE 500 camera". It features a hinged camera body that also serves as a camera grip. It has a Kodak Reomar 22mm kens and requires a 9 volt battery.

Kodakchrome 40 Sound Color Movie Film Type A

Item consists of a 15 metre Super 8 Sound cartridge of Kodachrome 40 Sound Colour Movie Film Type A in original packaging. Develop before date is April 1981. Inscribed in blue ink on verso reads the name "Fritz Siess" followed by an address in Willowdale, Ontario. It was mailed to the Kodak Canada Inc. processing laboratory in Brampton, Ontario.

Kodak commercial advertising photographs

Commerical photographs: one still life of a tea set, one advertising a fisher price camera for children - the image is of three children (two boys and a girl) and a note with the photograph reads "Put a camera in the hands of children and sharpen your own view of the world. The Fisher-Price camera was designed for younsters in the five-to-eight-year-old group". Four are head shots of a young man wth a mohawk. Two are of Grey Line red double decker buses with Kodak advertising on the side of the buses. Two are studio shots of Kodak cameras with boxes of Kodak film. One is of men in the middle of a soccer game, this photograph includes a note that reads "Participants in the 1986 Kodak 'Run for the Money' color reporduction contest will be working from this colorful sports action photo in their attempts to accurately reproduce the image for the ninth annual Kodak 'Run for the Money." Other images are still lifes of coloured umbrellas, chalk, and casino lights taken at night. As well as two commercial 'beauty' shots of two women.

Item is a large sized box camera made for use with 120 rollfilm. Features two prism viewfinders and simple meniscus lens. It has has cardboard body with black leatherette, but was manufactured in different colours, including red, blue, brown, maroon, green and burgundy.

Item is a medium sized camera with black casing and black cloth bellows, metal clasps. It took 8 exposures on 616 film to make a picture size of 2 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches. It features a Kodak Anastigmat f7.7 128mm lens and a Kodak Kodex No. 1 shutter. It has a folding viewfinder, knurled winding knob and a shutter release on the side.
