Item consists of a beige card with light grey embossed text at lower right, "Biles Art Shop/ 113 E. WASHINGTON ST./ NEW CASTLE, PA." Photograph is a portrait of an infant seated on a dark fabric with very little background visible. The infant wears a white dress with necklace, and is shaking his/her right hand so that it is blurred in the image.

Cream card with embossed text at bottom, "Gillespie" within a decorative artist's palette and brushes design, and "New Castle, Pa." The photograph is a full length portrait of a young boy standing on a chair piled with furs. He wears a dark jacket with high lace cuffs and wide, square collar toward the back (visible on the right shoulder) and an ascot tie. Instead of cropped trousers, he wears a skirt. A muffin-shaped hat is on his head.

Corliss Engine

Item is an albumen stereograph. Image depicts a large machine on a platform in an exhibition hall. The machine is marked "GEO. H. CORLISS, PROVIDENCE R.I." Recto captions bottom: "496- Corliss Engine, Mach. Hall"; left:"International Exhibition, 1876"; right: "Centennial Photographic Co., Philad'a". Verso has a crest and caption "Centennial Photographic International Exhibition. Wm. Notman president, W. Irving Adams vice pres, Edward L. Wilson supt & treasurer, J. A. Six companies manufactured these stereocard image pairs: one child and tricycle by E. & H. T. Anthony & Co.; eight landscapes by B. W. Kilburn; one landscape by Keystone View Company; one hand-coloured greenhouse view by Underwood & Underwood, Publishers; two hand-coloured garden views by Webster & Albee, Publishers; and one hand-coloured half-tone seascape, uncredited.
