Canada Place, situated on the downtown waterfront of Vancouver, British Columbia, opened in 1986 as the Canada Pavilion at Expo 86. It was later converted into the Vancouver Trade & Convention Centre. The theme of Canada Place is nautical. The building adorns the downtown waterfront with a superstructure resembling a large ocean vessel, a powerful prow thrusting into the harbour and a roof line of five white sails.
