Jack McAllister correspondence

Correspondence written by Jack McAlister. Letters regarding his applications for funding from the Federal Government to finance trips to various theatrical institutions around the world through the Canadian Council Arts awards. His research led to the establishment of Ryerson's Theatre School - incorporating the best techniques of the schools he visited. File also includes letters written by him to his colleagues at Ryerson during his travels.

Examination papers

Exam papers from the Theatre School and the Canadian College of Dance. Also included is a supplemental exam from 1971 and exams created by Jack McAlister for his History of Drama class - which pre-dates the Theatre School.

Performing Arts Series Agents

Advertising and correspondence regarding various artistic groups who toured North American theatres. Some of these groups and individuals were engaged by the Ryerson Theatre Department.

Bring Canadians Home Theatre Company proposal

A non-profit organization which sought to produce four productions in 1976 using leading Canadian actors and directors.They were interested in using Ryerson Theatre for these performances and as a "home base". The Company would use Ryerson students, wherever possible in their productions and would give special classes as well. File contains budget proposal and position paper. It would appear that Ryerson Theatre was never used for this purpose.

LOFT Community Services annual Christmas concerts

The School of Performance is partnered with LOFT and faculty, staff and students from the program participated in the production of the annual christmas concert. LOFT (Leap of Faith Toronto) is a community service provider in Ontario that supports people facing a combination of mental and physical health challenges, addiction issues, poverty, and/or homelessness.

This file contains 6 folders of newspaper clippings from the Eyeopener and local Toronto newspapers related to items that were of interest to the Board of Governors. The clippings files were compiled by Information Services and distributed to the BOG. Clippings in this file are arranged chronologically (as they were compiled) with the 6th folder containing clippings specifically related to Rochdale College.

Faculty of Business Strategic Academic Plan draft 1989/90

File contains a copy of the draft 1989-1990 Faculty of Business Strategic Academic Plan submitted by Dean of Business Timothy Reid to Vice-President Academic Terry Grier for the APG (Academic Planning Group) meeting held June 22-23, 1988. Included in the plan are individual academic plans for each School (Business Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Office and Administrative Studies) submitted by their chairmen - S. Hulbert, B, Patterson, and P. Williams. Copies of the draft were also submitted to the other members of the APG as well.

News Releases

File contains a news release on the donation of a Gestalt Photomapper to Ryerson from Spar Aerospace Ltd. and Northway Map Technology Ltd.

Cornerstone

A piece of cornerstone 15cm x 19cm x 28cm mounted on a wooden base measuring 32cm x 38cm presented to the department of Survey (Civil) Engineering by the 1972 graduating students. There are four inscribed brass plates attached to the wooden base housing the stone.

Wild T4 Universal Theodolite Instrument

This instrument was used for angular measurements of the highest accuracy and astronomic-geodetic observations, providing a high resolving power and brilliant image, at 60x and 80x magnification. Its specific applications included: First Order Triangulation; Primary Control by Distances; Geographical Determinations (azimuth, latitude, longitude); Determination of the Deviation of the Vertical by Astronomical Observations; and as a Stationary Instrument in Observatories. Manufactured by the Wild Heerbrugg Ltd. company of Switzerland (Dr. Heinrich Wild brought his revolutionary ideas into the scope of astronomic-geodetic measurements), the Wild T4 was purchased by Ryerson’s Civil Engineering Department around 1968.
