Information Services

Front pages from the Ryersonian (1973), formatted and put together as a collage. A person (Michael Hamilton, 1975) from Film and Photography adjusting his Pentax camera shooting a scene. Both photographs were used as cover images for Technikos Magazine - Collage for the Autumn 1973 edition, and Michael Hamilton (with corresponding story) in the Spring, 1975 edition.

Oversized letter from Terrence Grier to Ryerson Community re: University Status

2 copies of an oversized poster made by blowing up a letter written by Terrence Grier to All Members of the Ryerson Community on May 20, 1993: "It is my great pleasure to inform you that Bill 1, an Act to Amend the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute act, 1977, and the Universities Foundations Act, 1992, received its third and final reading in the Legislature on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 18th. Following the formality of royal assent and proclamation, we will be Ryerson Polytechnic University in fact and law. As a result, our 1993 graduands will be the first to receive degrees, diplomas and certificates bearing the new university designation at spring convocation ceremonies, June 16-18. In the meantime, may I extend my sincere appreciation to all of you for helping to make this historic occasion possible. I know that we all look forward to participating in the development of Ryerson Polytechnic University in the months and years ahead. Sincerely, Terrence Grier."

This is Ryerson publication

A series of promotional materials designed and produced in three formats: posters, booklets, and brochures. It is assumed that all three were designed and produced by the Community Relations Department (formerly Information Services), for distribution by both Community Relations and the Admissions Liaison Advising Office.

Ryerson University Week

A collection of posters, clippings, and a community notice documenting the many events during "Ryerson Week" October 11-15 1993, to celebrate Ryerson's university status, a joint venture of Ryesac (RSU), Community Relations and the President's Office. Also in the collection are seven O/S reproductions of articles re. Ryerson's University Status, mounted on foamcore display panels (72cm x 60cm). These panels were part of a display in the Olive Baker Lounge during "Ryerson Week", arranged by Student Services with assistance from the Archives.

Continuing Education - miscellaneous (book 4)

A few color negatives from the cover of the "This is Ryerson" and "Explore Ryerson" (1981-1988). The cover booklet for the Faculty of Community Services (summer 1987) "This is Ryerson 1987/88" is included. An "Explore Ryerson" poster negative (1983) , a picture of a red stop sign and red apple can be found also in this file. There are also other negatives from the Ryerson Folder (1981).

Community Relations photographs - head shots

A collection of black and white photographs and negatives of individuals (head shots) maintained by the Community Relations Department, formerly the Information Services Department, and then the University Advancement Office. The majority of the images are of faculty and staff. The photographs were primarily used for reproduction in the Ryerson publication "FORUM".

Larissa Allen

File contains photographs of Larissa Allen. At the time the photographs were taken she was the Associate Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Human Resources respectively.

Harry J. Boyle spoke at Ryerson Spring Convocation, 1978. He was a journalist and retired Chair of the Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC).

The other was published in the 'FORUM' magazine in April, 1980 when she was Distance Ed co-ordinator.

One photograph was used twice: first when she came to Ryerson as chair of the School of Office and Administrative Studies and then, when she was nominated by academic council to a committee inquiring into the nature and extent of misrepresentation of five degrees (Miskolc) held by Ryerson Engineering faculty. Her photograph was published in the 'FORUM'.

John Easton

File contains head shots of John Easton, Ryerson faculty in the department of Applied Chemical and Biological Sciences. His photograph was published in the 'FORUM' magazine in May 1986 when he was appointed Chair of the Department of Applied Chemical and Biological Sciences. The photograph was published again in the 'FORUM' in September 1996, when he was a member of Ryerson's Board of Governors. The photograph was used again in the 'FORUM' in July 1997, when he was appointed director of the Office of Co-Operative Education.

David James Elliott

File contains a head shot of former theatre School student, David James Elliott (formerly David Smith). At this time he received the Jean A. Chalmers apprentice Award given to the most promising apprentice at the Stratford Festival Theatre. His photograph was published in the 'FORUM' magazine on April 23, 1984.

File contains head shots of Kathy English, Ryerson faculty in the School of Journalism. One of her photographs was published in the 'FORUM' magazine Nov. 9, 1990. At this time she wrote an article in the FORUM about her experience at a workshop at Indiana University's School of Journalism.

His photograph was published in the 'FORUM' magazine on May 30, 1986 when he was appointed to chair the Civil Technology program. His photograph was published again in the 'FORUM' magazine on April 10, 1987, when he received a grant from Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources. His photograph was used again Oct. 2, 1987 when the Civil Technology Department changed its name to the Department of Civil Engineering encompassing two schools: the School of Civil Engineering and the School of Surveying

The same photograph was published in the 'FORUM' Jan. 11, 1985 when he was a member of the Ryerson's Board of Governors. In Oct., 1986 another photograph was published in the 'FORUM' when his first term on the Board of Governor's was expired.
