Fundraising - ECE faculty

Faculty members June Pollard and Kenise Kilbride take on the initiative to raise money for the Early Childhood Education initatives along with three of Ryerson's 30 student Telemail callers - Vanessa Thomas, Joachim Vallentin and Garry McClean. A page (pg.13) from Forum, January 17, 1997 entitled "Student aid endowment tops $500,000; gov't will match pledges up to March 31.

Fundraising Campaigns

This Series contains correspondence and promotional materials related to the "Invest in Futures" fundraising campaign launched Thursday, May 13, 2004, Ron Besse as campaign chair, held at 43 Gerrard St E. Officially closed June 30, 2006, with continued contributions up to December 2008.

GREET - teaching awards

Gayle Sutton retirement reception

File contains photographs of the reception held for retiring Ryerson employee Gayle Sutton. She was retiring as Manager of Custodial Services after having been at Ryerson for 35 years. She also worked in Finance/Records and Admissions during her time at Ryerson. One of the photographs was published in the March 2002 edition of the FORUM.

File contains head shots of entrepreneur George Wong. He received an Honourary Doctorate from Ryerson in Spring 2001. The photograph was published in the programme created for the ceremonies.

File contains photographs of Ryerson Biology professor Gideon Wolfaardt near the fountain in the Toronto Eaton Centre. One of the photographs (#10) was published in Fall 2004 IMPACT - a celebration of scholarly, research and creative activity, which was part of the November/December edition of the FORUM.

Gladys Doyle - 45th Anniversary

Gladys Doyle is presented with flowers and a gift given by Claude Lajuenesse and Linda Grayson for her work and dedication for 45 years at Ryerson for working at the switchboard. A page from the Forum, February 28, 1997 (pg.11-12) entitled "Voices from the past celebrate 45 years on the line" shows Gladys in a "then and now" photograph.

Gold Medal: Isadore Sharp Outstanding Recent Graduate

One gold plated medal with the Ryerson crest and "Ryerson Polytechnic University" on one side and a side view of Isadore Sharp and "The Isadore Sharp Outstanding Recent Graduate Medal RYERSON" on the other.
The Isadore Sharp outstanding recent graduate medal is awarded to an alumnus who has within 10 years of graduation brought honour to Ryerson and achieved distinction in their professional life.

From the Ryersonian (Nov. 24, 1999) - An old player at the game of fundraising. Gordon Cressy is Ryerson's "financial savior". Also included are photos of Gordon Cressy at work as the new Chief Development Officer.

is a leader in the redevelopment of different areas and showcasing Toronto, e.g. the waterfront, Yonge-Dundas area and the Mackenzie House.

Harry Rosen tribute dinner

File contains photographs taken during the Harry Rosen Tribute night hosted by Ryerson University. The event was to honour Mr. Rosen's 50 years in menswear retailing. The event raised $305, 495 for Ryerson's Retail Management program. Attendees included Harry Rosen; Ryerson President Claude Lajeunesse and his wife; Fashion Television host Jeanne Beker; Michael Belcourt; Ryerson Vice President Finance Linda Grayson; Hudson Bay Company CEO George Heller; and Board Chair Robert Guerriere.

High performance computing virtual laboratory (HPCVL) ceremony

File contains photographs taken of the opening of Ryerson's high performance computing virtual laboratory. Ryerson's lab is the Toronto nodule of a consortium of colleges and universities including Queen's University, Royal Military College, St. Lawrence College, Carlton University, University of Ottawa, Ryerson University, Seneca College, and Loyalist College. Computers donated by Sun Microsystems.

Holiday card - winter scenes

File contains photographs taken of the Ryerson Campus in winter and of assorted holiday props for the University holiday card. Photographs were taken in 1995, 1999, and 2000 and were taken by various photographers. Included are pictures of the Kerr Hall clock tower, the Quad, the Normal School facade, the Rogers Communication Centre, and Oakham house. Many of the images were used in a holiday card sent out by the University. One of the images of the Kerr Hall clock tower was published in the December 8 1997 edition of the forum.

Series contains promotional records, objects, and other materials created for Homecoming and Alumni Weekend. Included are memory books created for the 50th Anniversary class years. In 2007 the name changed from Homecoming to Alumni Weekend.

Honorary Doctorate recipients

There were eight recipients who received honorary doctoral degrees for 1999 they were John Neville, Lorne Michaels, Cornelia Han Oberlander, Lionel Hurtubise, Frank McKenna, Beverly Mascoll, Jack Granatstein and Bev Salmon .
