The collection consists of audio, video and film recordings made by Dr. Joe MacInnis and his team during his underwater dives from the 1970s to 2004. The bulk of the collection concerns the shipwrecks of the Titanic, the Breadalbane and the Edmund Fitzgerald. There are also many films that highlight deep sea ecology and oceanography, particularly hydrothermal vents and deep sea sharks. Most recordings in the collection consist of rough or unedited footage. The collection also includes television and radio programs on which Dr. MacInnis appeared and some video and audio recordings by MacInnis' friends and colleagues. There is a small selection of footage collected by MacInnis for research purposes, including footage of William Beebe and Otis Barton's deep sea dives in their revolutionary 'bathysphere' in 1934.

Ryeham Radio Club

The Ryeham Radio Club was a student group formed in 1953 as an offshoot of the Radio Broadcast program. Members were predominantly members of the Electronic Technology course, several of whom were licensed amateurs. The club operated the radio code VE3RIT, and in 1956, Ryeham became net control for Eastern Canadian universities. Ryeham eventually changed its name to the Ryerson University Amateur Radio Club, and continued in existence until approximately the year 2000.

Milton Orris fonds

Milton Orris is a consultant in Health and Education and former Dean of Continuing Education at Ryerson University. Orris earned his BA in History and Political Science from the University of Manitoba, his MA in Sociology from the University of Saskatchewan, his PhD in Organizational Development from York University, and is also a certified Project Manager (PMI). After finishing his MA, Orris was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the University of Regina, where he became Department Chair. Subsequently, he took on the role of the first Dean of Health and Social Sciences at Fanshawe College, London, Ontario, then worked for the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities and the Ministry of Health. He returned to academic life as the developer and first Director of the Master's Program in Health Administration at the University of Toronto before his appointment at Ryerson University. He was President of the Canadian Association of University Continuing Education and has worked extensively with Aboriginal Organizations in Saskatchewan and Ontario. His consulting in education and health care development has taken him to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, the Ukraine, Republic of Georgia, as well as most Canadian provinces and many US States. He is a frequent speaker at conferences on a variety of topics including Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring, Strategic and Operational Planning, Project Management, and others, and is in the process of writing three books, two of them as a co-author. He is President of management consulting firm Orris Consultants Inc.

Richard Cheung is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ryerson University. Cheung received his BASc, MASc, and PhD from the University of Toronto. He has been teaching at Ryerson University since 1989. His research has focused on: nuclear electricity generation and transmission; power system operations; power system protection and stability; power electronics; power engineering software; energy efficiency; power quality; and substation communication. Prior to joining the faculty at Ryerson, he worked as a Research Engineer with Ontario Hydro and has been an active consultant for electricity utilities and the power industry since 1990. He has completed over 20 major projects and built 4 special-purposed power converters for the Ontario utilities and mining industries, and manufactured 1 solar-energy converter. He has been a PEng since 1987.

Murray Pomerance fonds

Murray Pomerance is a film scholar, author and Professor in the Department of Sociology and in the Joint Program in Communication and Culture at Ryerson University. Pomerance was born in Hamilton, Ontario in 1946. He earned his BA from the University of Michigan and his MA from SUNY (Buffalo). Before coming to Ryerson, Pomerance worked as a teaching and research assistant at York University, Toronto, and studied at the New School for Social Research. He joined the faculty at Ryerson in 1976. In 1995, he was a co-founder (with John Sakeris) of the University's Media Studies Working Group and, from 1997 to 2005, was Chair of the Sociology Department. He has published extensively in the areas of cinema studies and performance, including contributions to The Paris Review, The Boston Review, Canadian Art, and Descant, and has authored, co-authored, or edited over 40 books, including: The Eyes Have it: Cinema and the Reality Effect (Rutgers, 2013); Popping Culture (seventh ed., Pearson, 2012); Michelangelo Red Antonioni Blue: Eight Reflections on Cinema (Rutgers 2008); Johnny Depp Starts Here (Rutgers, 2005); and An Eye for Hitchcock (Rutgers, 2004). Pomerance has also acted in, produced, and/or written a number of films and other media productions and has authored several works of fiction. He has received numerous awards and research grants throughout the course of his career. In 2000 and 2001, he was voted second best Professor in Toronto by readers of the Toronto-based weekly newspaper, Now Magazine. In 2004, he was awarded the Sarwan Sahota Distinguished Scholar Award for outstanding contributions to knowledge or artistic creativity and, in 2005, received a Ryerson Research Award.

Manuel Alvarez Cuenca is a Professor of Chemical Engineering and Head of the Laboratory of Membrane Bioreactors at Ryerson University. He holds a B.Eng in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics and Chemical Engineering, respectively, from the University of Western Ontario. He has over 15 years of industrial experience with multinational corporations in the areas of fluidized bed reactors, bioreactor design, water treatment and clean power generation. In 2002, he founded Ecotechnos Inc., a company devoted to the design and construction of advanced bioreactors for the treatment of industrial wastewater. He is an active consultant for governments and the private sector in Canada, Spain and Iberoamerica in the areas of water treatment, and energy. His academic record spans over two decades with universities in Europe, Canada, and South America, including Ryerson University, U. of Western Ontario, U of Waterloo, U. of Guelph, U of Windsor ), U.Politécnica de Madrid ( Spain),) Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Colombia), U de Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), Corporacion Universitaria de la Costa(Colombia ). He holds four patents on the design of compact bioreactors, has authored over fifty papers and one book on Pressurized Fluid Beds Combustion, and has chaired and participated in the organization of numerous international conferences and congresses including the 5th World Congress of Chemical Engineering, San Diego California,1996. Cuenca has taught numerous courses and seminars on Water/wastewater Treatment, Solid Waste Management, Design of Wastewater Treatment Plants and has won several awards as Academic Adviser in Plant Design Competitions with Water Environmental Federation, and Water Environment Association of Ontario (Ottawa 2012, New Orleans 2010, London 2010).

Samih W. Mikhail is a Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Graduate Studies at Ryerson University, as well as a Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional. Mikhail earned his MSc from the University of Toronto and his PhD in Comparative Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, also at the University of Toronto. He joined the faculty at Ryerson in 1966. From 1985 to 1990, he was Associate Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and, from 1995 to 2000, was Director of Ryerson International. He retired from Ryerson in 2000, at which time he joined the faculty at Centennial College and was Dean of the School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science (SETAS) until 2006. In 2006, he became an Academic Advisor at the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto where he coordinates the Business and Professional Programs. He has been actively consulting with national and international organizations (including CIDA, the World Bank,Swedish SIDA, OECD) since 1990 in the areas of strategic planning, business process management, project and portfolio management and education planning. He is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

Dr. Petrozzi is a Professor in the Department of Politics and Public Administration and member of the Yeates School of Graduate Studies at Ryerson University. Dr. Petrozzi did his graduate work at McMaster University, the University of Toronto and The Ukrainian Free University in Munich, where he was awarded his doctorate. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Windsor.
Dr. Petrozzi joined the Department in 1976 as a sessional instructor and was awarded a tenure-stream position in 1981. In 1986 he was appointed Chair for a five year term. Dr. Petrozzi has been active in the Ryerson Faculty Association as a Departmental Representative and, from 1997 to 2004, as a member of the Association's Negotiating Committee.
Dr. Petrozzi's expertise is in the areas of political theory, comparative politics and public administration. He is active as a speaker and commentator within the media and within the Ontario Public Service. His publications include Authority And Influence edited with C. Cassidy and P. Clarke and a contribution to D. Barrows & I. Macdonald, The New Public Management . As a consultant and trainer to governments, Dr. Petrozzi has designed and authored a number of intensive training programs in the areas of executive decision making, public policy development and strategic management. His work with the media has been extensive and includes radio and television.
Dr. Petrozzi has been active in the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC). He has been a member of the executive of the Toronto Region Group since 1994, including a two year term as its Chair. In 2001, Dr. Petrozzi was appointed to the Executive Committee of the 2004 National Conference and was the Chair of the Program Committee of the 2004 National Conference held in August of 2004. From 2005 until 2007, he served as a National Board member of IPAC. Since 1997, Dr. Petrozzi has been a member of the Selection Committee for the Ontario Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Public Administration.

This fonds contains a collection of postcards (9 sepia tone, 3 colour) donated to the Archives from the Eastall family.The late Philip Eastall is the father of Archives Assistant, Shirley McKinley. These postcards originally belonged to the parents of Philip. Eleven of the postcards are of various Toronto scenes and one is a scene in Ontario. The Centre for Voluntary Sector Studies was established in 1995 in order to enhance understanding of the voluntary sector through research and education. Its mandate is to conduct and disseminate research, provide educational opportunities for managers, workers and volunteers in the nonprofit sector through formal undergraduate and continuing education programs, and extend consulting and research services to nonprofit organizations.

OneCard Office

The Ryerson One Card Office was created in December 2002. The One Card was introduced as the university's official ID card for students, staff and faculty; it also served as a library card. The card has magnetic strips that track funds for food contracts, vending machines, and photocopying/printing services. In December 2005, the new Ryerson One Card replaced old Ryerson Photo ID cards and the Intercon Security Access Cards.

By the fall of 2008 the card has been referred to as the Ryerson OneCard. The Office has as its main location in the lower ground level of Jorgenson Hall in JOR02.

Co-operative Education at Ryerson began in 1976 when Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry & Biology 4th year students were assigned to unpaid technical projects in government & industry two days a week. A formal co-op program and office was established in 1991. In 1997, the Office of Co-operative Education was established in its location at 101 Gerrard St. East under the direction of Dr. Easton to coordinate the expanding co-op activities in a number of departments at Ryerson. By 2011 when the Office celebrated its 20th anniversary, the program had been rebranded as Ryerson Co-operative Education.

The Taskforce on Anti-Racism at Ryerson was established in the April of 2008. It was co-chaired by Eileen Antone from OISE-UT and Grace-Edward Galabuzi from Ryerson and membership included nine community members representing equally students, staff, and faculty. It issued a final report in January 2010.

Stephen Law is a former professor in the Department of Economics at Ryerson University. He completed his PhD at the University Toronto with a dissertation entitled "Economic Policy Interactions: Intellectual Property Rights and Competition Policy; Exclusive Licensing and Rate Regulation." Law’s work centres on health economics, intellectual property rights, and health policy in Canada. After leaving Ryerson, Law went on to become an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Mount Allison University.

Linda Hart graduated with a BA from Ryerson and has been a teacher/preceptor in the University's Early Learning Centre for more than twenty years. Hart's areas of professional interest include: writing early childhood curriculum, integration in childcare, and implementing the emergent, project-based curriculum. Her most recent interest lies in developing and implementing the outdoor curriculum. She recently won the Ryerson Field Educator Award and participates with colleagues in leading and conducting presentations and workshops on a variety of topics related to early childhood education.

Barbara Joyce Hack (née Shepherd) graduated with a three-year diploma in Fashion from Ryerson in 1955. While at Ryerson, Hack did promotional work for Simpson's and created costumes for RIOT and ROW. She also sat as a representative on the SAC and on the Health Committee and was a member of the intramural volleyball and basketball teams.

Kenneth B. Hack graduated with a two-year diploma in Retail Merchandising from Ryerson in 1953. Hack was born in 1932 and attended Long Branch High School in Toronto, Ontario. As a high school student, Hack acted as Eaton's Junior Executive and as the advertising manager of the school yearbook. While at Ryerson, Hack took on the role of 1953 RIOT choreographer and sat as a representative on the SAC.
