Item is in a cream coloured card-frame embossed opening, with embossed letters "Potter's Patent March 7 1865." Which is how we dated the tintype. Photograph is a studio portrait of two women, both seated, arms resting on the one armrest with fringes. Woman on right is dressed all in black, with black hat and veil - perhaps mourning wear. The woman on the left is in full skirt with black trim and black top, white collar and black hat. Both have pink tinted cheeks.

All four corners of tintype are angled off.

The one in the middle has on a suit with jacket, vest and a chain watch and a hat. He has a cigarette in his mouth and a cane leaning against his legs. Carpet is flowered. He is well dressed in a dark frock coat, with a white high-collared shirt and tie. He has a mustach and his cheeks are tinted pink. The hat is perhaps a boater hat, straw with a wide black band and trim. Due to frock coat and hat dated after 1870s. All four corners are rouned off.

He looks very pleased with himself. Both their cheeks are tinted pink. Top corners angled off, and bottom edge is curved.

All four men are wearing bowlers hats, and suits with jackets and ties. Woman is wearing a large hat with flowers. Man behind wheel and another in backseat both have mustaches. Studio backdrop. Black band across top of image.

Ferdinand, Daytona Beach Florida

Title taken from card-frame. The bull in the picture with the name Ferdinand on the card-frame could be referencing the children story of Ferdinand The Bull from 1935, made into a cartoon in 1938 by Walt Disney - this would potentially date the image from after 1938. The tintype is an image of a bull with a man sitting on its back, arms in the air and holding two guns. Another man stands beside the bull, in sunglasses and a hat. They seem to be standing on a beach.

Item has a cream card-frame with green details of ivy around square opening. Edges of card mount are rounded out, like bubbles. Tintype is a portrait of a man standing on a sidewalk outdoors. He wears a suit jacket, vest and tie with high white collar and fedora hat. There are people in the background, walking on the sidewalk, and what looks like a car parked beside him. You cannot make out any details in his face. He wears something on his lapel, maybe a handkerchief in his breast pocket. Image dated in the 1930s due to the popularity of the fedora in this decade.

Tintype is a studio portrait of a couple, potentially Mr and Mrs Neil Gardiner. The man is sitting with arm on armrest, the other in his lap. The woman is standing beside him. Both style hats suggest the image was taken in the 1880s.

File contains commercial images of children attending birthday parties, wearing costumes, at weddings and with family. Some have captions enclosed, such as an image of children wearing fake moustaches with a caption that reads "If you want pictures in which children aren't looking directly at the camera and your subjects aren't cooperating, have them pretend that your camera is a "monster" that will get them if they look at it."

His shirt hangs down to mid-thigh, and is fringed around the bottom and at the sleeves. It has a pattern of leaves on it. He is blond, and his cheeks are tinted pink. He stands still with the aid of a body stand. Top and bottom left corners angled off.

Photo cards, portraits

The card-mounted photographs are all studio portraits of unidentified individuals. The first of two cabinet cards is embossed with "Quartley", and the second is embossed with "Morton." Two Cartes de visites are printed on verso with "J.F. Rowe. A fifth card is identified as a "Gem" photo card, printed on verso with "R.W. Knorr" and an advertisement for the tiny Gem format.

Brown suede cover slip with some sort of faded decorative drawing; slipped over maroon hard-cover. Grey pages. Some photograph peeling away from pages; protective paper inserted between pages. A few lose photographs. Many pages left blank.

Themes include portraits, horse-drawn carriages, landscapes, waterscapes.

Includes a photograph of B. Heyman Furniture Co. in Phoenix, Arizona while located at the Anderson building on the northwest corner of Washington and 1st Street. The Anderson Building was built in 1888 and lasted until the 1980's. Also includes a photograph of Davidson's Cash Store, believed to be in Phoenix, Arizona c. 1902.

Item consists of a photograph mounted on cream card with decoratively frayed edges. Handwritten note at bottom right of image in blue ink, "If you get your just/ deserts(sic) I will be/ satisfied - and you ought/ to be./ Victor Goggin/ 24.9.45" light wool suit with glasses and diamond patterned tie.

Hill took over the position.grey card which fades from light to dark from left to right, with round portrait of a woman with a ruffle-collared dress. At bottom right, embossed in white on a diagonal, "F. W. Wood Ltd. 347 & 349 EDGEWARE RD. ,W./ 8, 22 BISHOPS RD., W." On verso, handwritten in pencil, "112330".

Item is a cream cabinet card with scalloped, gold-leafed edges and gold letterpress at bottom, "Goodwin/ EXTRA FINISH/ SYRACUSE, N.Y." Photograph is a full length portrait of a young boy, probably about 5 years old, wearing a lace shirt with dark cuffs and a dark ascot tie, trousers cut off at the knee, and holding a stick in one hand and a hat in another. He sits on the edge of a stone pillar with a background of abstracted leaves for a backdrop. On verso, an etching of a waterfall with the text "Goodwin./ 314 SO SALINA ST/ ART Photography./ INSTANTANEOUS PROCESS". At the top edge, handwritten in ink, "Georgia Wilson".

Two gold clasps decorated with gold ribbons and rings. Inside cover has pink and gold pattern. Title page and index page included. White pages with window openings and gold borders. Page edges gilded and embossed. Some hand tinting on tintypes.

Item is a cream coloured card with gold border and a portrait of a child in tartan dress seated on a rocking horse and holding a whip. At the base of the horse, a hat with feathers is sitting on the floor. On verso, handwritten in pencil, "Wemyss Chisholm" followed by the text in pen, "1864-1954". At the centre of the card, a photographers stamp in brown ink, "J. H. GRIFFITHS,/ PHOTOGRAPHER,/ London, C. W./ Copies may be had."

Item is a cream coloured cabinet card with light green border and embossed decoration at bottom, with raised text "Senior" and "MAIN ST./ EXETER." on either side. In the bottom centre, a drawing of an artist's palette with brushes contains the text "EXTRA/ FINISH". The photograph is of two young girls, probably about 1 and 2 years of age, in dark dresses with wide lace collars. The younger sits in a wooden rocker with horse cut-outs on either end.

He has curls down to his shoulders in the Fauntleroy fashion. He leans against a diamond-patterened fence made of tree branches and there is the trunk of a tree to the left of the image. Fence is in front of an interior wall, implying a studio setting. At bottom of card in black letterpress, "P. BOGRAND, Wausakee, Wis." On verso, handwritten in pencil, "5-".
