Brownie Hawkeye flash model

Item is a small hand held box camera with Bakelite body, brilliant viewfinder and Kodalite Flash-holder attachment. For 6 x 6 cm exposures on 620 roll film. One of the best selling Brownie cameras ever made, it is a simple easy to use design created by Eastman Kodak employee Arthur H. Crapsey. The original sales price was $5.50 for the camera alone and $7.00 for the flash model.

Item is a folding autographic camera that allowed one to write on the negative using a metal stylus. Photos were taken on 120 roll film. In 1917 the ends were changed from a squared to rounded version, and the No. 2A was produced with the rounded ends until 1926.

No. 3A Autographic Kodak special

Kodak Reference Handbooks and Technical Data

Sub-sub-series contains publications produced by Kodak for the consumer between 1940 and about 1995. Publications are pamphlets ranging from 1 to over 50 pages and intended to be stored in a series of specialized binders. The information pamphlets were published in series with an alpha numeric code, which form the sub series in this collection. Customers subscribed to receive updates based on their specific interest. Early publications, from the 1940's, were simply titled "Kodak Photographic Handbook" and later versions included: Kodak Reference Handbook, Kodak Industrial Handbook, Kodak Color Handbook, Kodak Graphic Arts Handbook, Kodak Professional and Industrial Data, and Kodak Scientific and Technical Data.

Each pamphlet has a unique, alpha-numeric Pamphlet Number, following classification scheme devised by Kodak to make ordering and subscription easy for clients. Schema is as follows:

Anyone who owned this camera was offered a rebate if the camera's nameplate was returned to Kodak, when Kodak lost a case against Polaroid and was forced to withdraw its instant cameras from the market for infringement of Polaroid's patent. Hence, many of this model of camera will be found without the 940 Kodak Trimprint nameplate. It was the successor to the Kodamatic 940.

This model was part of a series that was Kodak's response to the successful instant cameras produced by Polaroid. A patent infringement case was brought against Kodak by Polaroid in 1977 and was finally settled in 1986, in Polaroid's favour. Kodak recalled all their instant cameras, offering customers a new camera or a rebate in exchange. A further, class action, lawsuit by consumers followed, resulting in Kodak further offering cash or credit for the return of the Kodak nameplate.

When using the transmission mode, the densitometer can be used to measure the density of a negative, and when using the reflection mode, it can measure the saturation of a resulting print.
