What's Happening Around Ryerson / On Campus This Week

This circular provided the Ryerson Community with information on day-to-day events taking place on Campus. From 1971 to April 1977, the publication was called "What's Happening Around Ryerson" with the name changing to "On Campus This Week" on the September 2, 1977 issue. "On Campus This Week" was last published in 1986. As an alternative, a number of departments agreed to pool their resources to sponsor, on a non-profit basis, a weekly full-page listing of campus events in the student newspaper, THE EYEOPENER.

Photographs - oversized

File contains three black and white photographs of the Toronto Training and Re-Establishment Institute and of a class being held in the Normal School classroom that were displayed at the Bicentennial Display.

Ontario Bicentennial audio-visual presentation slide collection

File contains slides created from photographs and newspapers in the Ryerson Archives collection. Information services hired a student employee as a summer project. The slides were used in a five minute audio-visual presentation as part of Ryerson's Ontario bi-centennial project. There is no indication of what record groups the photographs were taken from.

Convocation 1972

File contains speeches, photographs, correspondence, programmes and supporting memoranda relating to Ryerson's 1972 convocation ceremonies.

Technology

File contains photographs of the Spring 1982 Ryerson Convocation. Included in the photographs is Ryerson President Brian Segal, various students, faculty and staff during the Technology division convocation. Also in the photographs is the Hon. John Roberts, Federal Minister of the Environment and Minister of State for Science and Technology, guest speaker; and Ryerson Fellowship recepient, John Shepherd, Chairman of the Board, Leigh Instruments Ltd.

Invitations

File contains invitations to convocation receptions, readings, theatre performances, balls, luncheons, openings and memorial services.

Palin Hall official dedication materials

File contains a register for the dedication ceremony of Eric Palin Hall, held on October 15th 1971 (building is as of 2013 called Oakam House). File also contains an invitation and guest list to the official dedication to re-name the Technology Annex to Eric Palin Hall held on Feb 9th 1979.

Reference photograph files

Series contains photgraphs taken and maintained by the Department of Information Services prior to their amalgamation with Community Relations. The photographs were used for publications including FORUM, THE ANNUAL REPORT, THE RYERSON RAMBLER, TECHNIKOS and THE ADMISSIONS BULLETIN during the period 1967 to 1986, covering such subjects as Convocation, Fashion, Homecoming, Individuals, Parades/Picnics, RTA, Visitors and the Winter Carnival. National Universities Week, 1985

File contains photographs of events held during National Universities Week 1985. Two photographs depict CBC's Radio Noon host David Schatsky with Ryerson President Brian Segal. Nine colour and one black and white photograph depict the Ryerson display housed in the lobby of Toronto City Hall during National Universities Week. File contains one photograph of the "Works in Print" display in the Olive Baker Lounge. This display celebrates books written by Ryerson faculty members. File contains one photograph of George Ignatieff, Ryerson's Sociology department's Harold Acker Lecturer for 1985. Ryerson Radio and RCTV

File contains photographs of a Ryerson radio studio and RCTV. Four of the photographs are of a man in the broadcast booth, and working with equipment. One of the photographs shows a woman looking throught the record library, and one photograph was of a remote broadcast by RCTV on Victoria Street. The construction of the Library Resource Centre is in the background.

Technikos, Spring 1971

File contains photographs published in Technikos, Spring 1971. The subject of the photographs are of various students, faculty and staff of the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute engaging in a variety of activities. File also contains one photograph of students in an obstetrical nursing class, students in various classrooms and one photograph of three students in a dormitory room.

File contains negatives of various Ryerson Polytechnical Institute's students in the Radio and Television Arts studio on campus. Negatives include images of students and faculty in a recording booth and using film equipment.

Communications Engineering Services, 1983-1984

File contains photographs of various Communications Engineering Services staff installing cables for the new computing services on campus. Photographs include images of staff members Wayne Detcher, and Liz Sitnik preparing for the computer and telephone upgrades. Two of the photographs are of a computer security device designed by Ken Woo of Communications Engineering Services.
