Sub-series illustrates the production history of the Kodak company's commercial camera production. The collection represents all major styles of medium and small format cameras produced by the company and consists of 171 plate and film cameras, including; box cameras, folding cameras, disposable cameras, range finder cameras, single-lens reflex cameras, twin-lens reflex cameras, ciné cameras, and digital cameras. The cameras are organized chronologically.

Kodak Kodachrome professional color reversal film

1 box of Kodachrome daylight colour reversal film in original, unopened packaging with directions to process before February 1989. ISO 25. 24 x 36 mm exposures. A 2nd box has been opened and contains 1 roll of film, unexposed, inside a black plastic cannister with a sheet of folded paper listing the properties and uses of the film in English and Japanese. (Exterior of box is printed in English only.) The second box gives directions to process before May 1986.

Item is a simple box camera with a black leatherette covered metal body, featuring an art deco design on the front panel. It took 8 2.25 x 3.25" exposures on 620 roll film. The lens features 2 focusing zones, "5 to 10 feet" and "beyond 10 feet" and uses a rotary shutter. Two brilliant viewfinders allow for portrait or landscape framing.

Premo film pack daylight loading film

White box printed with black ink for text and red ink borders, used for packaging Premo film packs for Premo film or plate cameras. Contained 12 cut celluloid negatives at 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 size, designed for daylight loading film exposures. The film packs were stored in an initially cardboard or metal frame that was placed in the back of the camera. The user pulled a paper tab to advance a fresh film into place for each exposure and move the exposed film to the back of the pack. "Each of the paper tabs, which protrude through a slot in the camera and were torn off after being used, had a number on it which acted as a basic, though perfectly efficient, exposure counter." Box is now empty of negatives, but contains two sheets of folded paper with instructions for use and processing, and one piece of folded red tissue. Torn sticker recto center top stamped "This film must be developed before July 1915." Maker is identified as Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, N.Y. and Kodak, Limited, Kingsway, London, W.C. Kodak resellers in Paris and Germany are also listed on the recto.

Kodak Disc 6000

Item is a small, flat, hand-held camera with black plastic body and a fold-up cover. Intended by Kodak to replace their instamatic line of cameras, the Kodak Disc cameras were designed to be simple to use, with all automatic functions. The camera used Disc film, a proprietary format that made 15, 11 x 8 mm exposures; this small negative size made the resulting prints very grainy when enlarged and, while the camera did well when it was first introduced, it lost populatiry due to the low quality prints it produced. Item includes a built in flash. Similar to the 4000 model, the 6000 also features a close-focus lens for 1.5 to 4 feet.
