President's Development Task Force

The President's Development Task Force was announced in December, 1975 by President Walter Pitman. Pitman declared that a series of task forces was necessary to develop "a whole battery of academic activities which would have positive financial implications for Ryerson while enabling us to serve society more fully. We also hope that this planning will help to convince the government that more generous funding should be forthcoming."Individual task forces under the umbrella Development Task Force include the following (numbers indicate collection record numbers for each task force, as arranged under the President's Office Group):

Strategy Study on Ryerson Polytechnical Institute

As part of the requirements for successful completion of the MBA programme at York University, groups of students are required to study an organization and prepare a report on the its strategy and policy. Permission was granted by President Brian Segal for a group of students to study Ryerson. A copy of the final report was submitted to Ryerson.

"Alcohol and Ryerson - A Review" report

A review of Ryerson's alcohol policies and procedures with draft resolutions for changes. The report followed the coroner's inquest recommendations stemming from the accidental death of a high school student at the ferry docks after attending the Ryerson Picnic at the Toronto Islands.

The material in this collection has been separated into two files: File #1 (Committee Records): This file folder received from University Advancement consists of correspondence, agendas/minutes (both hand written and typed) of committee meetings, draft reports/recommendations and summary of recommendations. Future Directions for Postsecondary Education brief

Included with Ryerson's brief to the Advisory Panel on Future Directions for Ontario's Postsecondary Education, is the government's discussion paper and the Advisory Panel's final report entitled, "Excellence, Accessibility, Responsibility - Summary and Recommendations", and issued in December, 1996.

Award to Gosha Zywno letter and photograph

Letter of congratulations and an 8 x 10 colour photograph of Malgorzata Zywno, Electrical Engineering faculty member, from the Center for the Advancement ofTeaching and Learning, Jacksonville, Florida. Gosha Zywno was a recipient of an "Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology", presented at the Fifteenth International Conference on College Teaching and Learning.

President's newsletter

The President's Newsletter, issued bi-annually, Spring and Fall, discussed updates and noteworthly events related to the school and faculty in a hardcopy format. It was discontinued as of October 19th, 2009 and replaced with the wholly digital, Ryerson Today.

Pre-School Education files
