Nursing Task Force

The Nursing Task Force at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute was organized in response to the January 1973 memorandum regarding the integration of Hospital School's of Nursing into Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. The task force formed in July of 1973. Ryerson Vice President Administration George Korey was the chairman and was composted of representatives all institutions involved. It's purpose was to guide the integration of the nursing schools from The Wellesley Hospital, Sick Children's Hospital, and Women's College Hospital into Ryerson's nursing program. Three working committees were established: Committee on Curriculum and Clinical Facilities; Committee on Teacher-student Affairs and Internal Resources; and Administrative and Finance Committee all overseen by an executive committee.
File includes a copy of the final report.

Framed Partnership in Product Design Certificate

Certificate recognizing the partnership between the University of Toronto, Ryerson Polytechnical University, and the Ontario College of Art in research and design. It is signed by the three school presidents.
The document reads:

This document recognizes the activities of the Creative Design Research Unit Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Toronto Since 1986 it has developed partnership initiatives in education, outreach, research and development in various aspects of product design. This involved co-operative teaching and interdisciplinary project work with other University of Toronto Departments, the Industrial Design Department - Ontario College of Art, Departments of Business, Marketing and Engineering - Ryerson Polytechnic University and participation of professionals in various relevant disciplines, manufacturers and entrepreneurs.
This document also recognizes the interdependence of various disciplines and methodologies which must be linked to interact in design research, product development, and in successful manufacturing and marketing of new products and systems, with significant economic benefit to the Canadian and Ontario industrial sectors and to the export potential of innovative, well designed products in a global context This document also records agreement to encourage and foster the continuance of partnership between the signing institutions in this type of endeavour and also to involve other institutions, professional associations, corporations and governmental interests that may be able to participate in the future."

Certificate to Terry Grier in recognition of University status

A framed certificate presented by the Ryerson Alumni to President T. Grier in honour Ryerson's achievement of university status. Presentation was made at Skydome Stadium on the occasion of Ryerson's 1993 Homecoming celebration, by CFTO-TV sportscaster and RTA '79 graduate, Suneel Joshi, on September 10.

Messages of protest at former site of Egerton Ryerson statue

File contains photographs taken on campus of spray painted messages related to Egerton Ryerson and his role in Residential Schools in Canada. The messages were created in response to the discovery of the remains of 215 children at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School located on the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation. On June 6, 2021 after a march and rally in Toronto, the statue of Egerton Ryerson was pulled down. The plinth it sat on was later removed by the University.
The photographs were commissioned by the Office of the President and were taken after the statue was pulled down and the plinth was removed. The photographs are of the messages of protest that were spray painted and chalked on the walls of Kerr Hall, the sidewalk and road in front of where the statue was located, on the stones in Lake Devo, and on the walkways in the Kerr Hall Quadrangle. There are also photographs of the areas around where the messages were located - Gould Street and the Kerr Hall Quadrangle.

Principal's Convocation gown

File consists of a purple gown with blue velvet trim and gold embossed trim. Photographic evidence suggests that this gown was worn at convocation ceremonies by Principal/President Fred Jorgenson, President Donald Mordell and President Walter Pitman during the mid to late 1960s until the later 1970s.

Terry Grier Convocation gown and mortarboard

File consists of the official gown and mortarboard worn by Terry Grier at convocation ceremonies during his tenure as Ryerson's President. The blue gown is a combination of rayon and velvet with gold embossed trim. The mortarboard is blue velvet with gold.
