Family scene on a porch

Item consists of a grey card with photograph of a family group on a porch of a house, taken from a distance. The girl at the far right appears in item 2008.001.208.1, wearing the same light coloured dress with dark embroidery. In the distance at the right more houses are visible.

Family portrait with parents and four children

Item consists of a beige card with black letterpress at bottom right, "W.S. Durrer,/ Formosa." Photograph shows a man in sack coat and waistcoat with tie, holding a boy in a sailor style suit at his side. In the centre, a young girl in a dress with two layers of ruffles at the neck is seated, while a boy in fitted suit jacket and ascot stands behind her. The wife and youngest girl are seated a the right. The woman wears a dress with a fitted sleeve with ball shaped puff which dates the style to 1897. The girl wears a dress in sailor style with a square lapel.

Item consists of a grey card with embossed gold text at bottom edge, "Johnson/ 513 QUEEN ST. WEST./ TORONTO." At the centre of the text, a design with Royal crest and the words "Royal Studio". Photograph affixed sideways, portrait of a family group with two women, possibly twins, and four boys, and a man. There is a drum in one corner of the photograph that reads "THE/ -SGR-VE". On verso, gold borders frame the text "Johnson & Co.,/ ARTISTIC/ Photographers/ TORONTO - -ONT./ PICTURES FINISHED IN/ Oil, Water Color and Crayon/ LIFE SIZE A SPECIALTY./ Duplicates can be had at any time by/ sending name./ INSTANTANEOUS PROCESS." At the left side, a drawing of a crown with the text "Royal Studio".

Balmoral album

No binding - album pages are loose. Black cover embossed with "Photographs" in gold. Black pages, photos glued in.
Notes with album suggest the Parkdale Train Station, Hepworth, and Balmoral. Almost all photographs peeling away from pages. Some photographs quite yellow, some fading especially around edges.

Photographs are amateur snapshots of a cottage, children and family, picnics, parks, a wedding, canoeing, the beach, biking, landscapes, an automobile with a 1920s liscence plate number, posed group shots in many different locations, a horse drawn carriage, all thought to be taken around or near the Toronto area.
One photograph appears to either be a double exposure, or a photograph taken looking through a window and has captured the reflction in the window as well as the view beyond.

Sites and locations include The Simkincoe, located at Jackson's Point, Ontario.

A photographic album containing snapshot photographs of family gatherings, most appear to be in Ontario. Includes early photo-booth images as well as a variety of snapshots documenting family life and recreational activities throughout rural Ontario in the early twentieth century. The inside title page contains a handwritten inscription, "Earle G.[?] :omdsau, Christmas 1915."
