History

John Craig Eaton was born in Toronto, May 30, 1937. He attended Upper Canada College and Harvard University. He joined The T. Eaton Co, Limited in 1954 and became a Director in 1967. He was appointed Chairman of the Board, Eaton's of Canada Limited in 1969. In 1989 he assumed the position of National Chair of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council. In 1999 he was appointed Chancellor of Ryerson University, a position he held until 2006. In 1999 he was awarded the Order of Ontario. In 2000 he was appointed Chair, Ontario Parks Board of Governors.
Mr Eaton has been the recipient of many awards including the Order of Ontario, Knight of Justice of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem for his outstanding contribution to St. John's Ambulance, Doctor of Commerce, honoris causa, Ryerson University in 1996 (D.Com.).
