Bereik en inhoud

Diane Granfield’s most recent position was as Head of Learning Services at Ryerson University Library and Archives in Toronto. She has been working at Ryerson's library since 1982. She received her BA from the University of Waterloo (1978) and her MLS from the University of Toronto (1982). Her research and professional interests encompass reference service models and staff development, evolving student and faculty research needs, and information literacy as it pertains to the 21st century library, including the relevance of books and reading in the lives of students. She has written and presented on a wide range of tops including help-seeking preferences in academic libraries, learning outcomes at the reference desk, library student advisory committees, critical interventions in Wikipedia, intellectual freedom and censorship, affective considerations in the research process as they pertain to assignment design, and the future of academic librarianship. Diane co- founded Canada’s first virtual (chat) reference service as a collaborative venture with York University and the University of Guelph in 2002. Diane’s plans for her 2015 sabbatical are to research the promotion of reading and readers’ advisory services in academic libraries and to explore best practices for integrating leisure reading into the curriculum.
