Folder contains 6 b&w photographs of the Kiyooka residence in Vancouver, B.C. A residence for artist Roy Kenzie Kiyooka and his wife Monica Kiyooka. Winner ward for residential design 1971 from the Canadian Housing Design Council. The designer of the residence was Mrs. Monica Kiyooka.
Caption on verso: "A delightful house which takes full advantage of a forest-river orientation...an open, stepped, plan with soaring spaces."

Christmas card from Dal and Shirley Grauer and the children

Cream card with blue and pink colour patches highlighting the words "Merry Christmas" and the date "1956". The family's address is printed sideways up the front of the card, and the parent's names are given at the bottom. Inside, the phrase "and the children....." is added to the inside left, while a black and white photograph of 6 children is pasted onto the right.

5 photographs of the same woman in light-coloured blouse, different poses and backgrounds. Each image is stamped "PROOF ONLY" on the front, and again on the back with more explanatpry text. The studio's name is given as "The Stride Studios". The sitter was identified as "Miss Helen Ballock." on a manilla envelope which contained the images. [Envelope removed]

Group seated in car in front of the Hollow Tree in Stanley Park

Photograph of a group of 7 passengers in an early automobile, stopped along Stanley Park drive in front of the "Hollow Tree". This old cedar was a popular spot for group photographs in both cars and horse-drawn carriages. The stamp on the back of the card mount indicates this was taken by an official park photographer: "The Stanley Park Photographers, Head Office, 162 Cordova Street, Vancouver, B.C.". The negative number for ordering more prints is given as 4869a.

[Baby on a Blanket]

Item consists of a black and white photograph of a baby lying on a white blanket. The baby is dressed in a white gown and lays beside a small flower bouquet. The photograph is shot from an odd angle and the baby is framed diagonally in the shot. The baby's dark hair is askew. The image is surrounded by a 0.75 cm white border. The back of the photograph is stamped "artray limited, photographers, vancover canada, art jones . ray munro". Former Vancouver Sun photojournalists, Art Jones and Ray Munro, incorporated artray limited in 1948. Jones and Munro were only in business together for less than a year, as Jones bought Munro out later in 1948. Munro went on to become a columnist, a parachute jumper, and a hypnotist, among other things. Jones later went on to produce and host "Art Jones & Company", a weekly feature on SHAW TV, where he chatted with business, entertainment, community and political leaders.

The Rock, White Rock, BC

Items consists of a post card of a 4 men and 4 women standing and sitting on a large rock. Image is circular and likely shot on an early Kodak Brownie. On the front, above the image someone has handwritten in pencil "The Rock", and below in pencil "White Rock B.C". The back of the photograph is printed with a post card format. This image was developed on Velox photographic paper, the first commercially successful photo paper.

View-Master

Item is a handheld view master manufactured by Sawyer's Inc and first introduced at the New York World Fair (1939-1940). Item is made of plastic and metal. Reel of 7 diametrical, 16 mm colour transparencies of famous landmarks in British Columbia, Canada. The lever on the side of the viewer will rotate the reel one frame at a time once pressed. Reels are interchangeable and come with a variety of themes.
