Biographical history

Roy Horney started at Ryerson in 1952 to teach math and Physics. During his time at Ryerson he was the departmental head for Instrument Technology, 1960-1962; departmental head for Gas and Instrument Technology, 1962-1965; instructor supervisor for Gas and Instrument Technology, 1965-1967; Assistant chairman for Chemical and Metallurgical Technology, 1967-1971; co-ordinator of the Technology Division, 1971-1972; and Registrar, 1974-1978. During his time as Registrar he helped implement RISIS II - the second version of the Ryerson created student information system. Roy was also the coach of the Ryerson Zebras, the early men's soccer team. Roy Horney retired from Ryerson in 1983 and was subsequently voted Ryersonian of the Year for 1984.

Colour image of the Bird of Spring Sculpture in its original location on Dundas Street. The sculpture is one of a series of 4 sculptures by the artist Etungat, and it and the Devonian pond on campus were created through funding by the Devonian Group of Charities.
