Biographical history

Beth Moore Milroy is a Professor Emeritus at the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Ryerson University. Milroy earned her BA from McGill University, her Master of Urban Studies from the University of Montreal, and her PhD from the University of British Columbia.

Prior coming to Ryerson University Dr. Milroy had been a faculty member at the University of Waterloo. In 1985 she was appointed an assistant professor in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Ryerson. She became an associate professor in 1990 and was named director of graduate program in 1992. Her tenure at Ryerson began in January of 1996 when she was named the director of the School of Urban and Regional Planning. Dr. Milroy is an active researcher whose interests include social, feminist, and planning theories; social research methods; work; participatory planning practices; neighbourhood planning; and community development. In addition she also has an extensive list of publications, including a co-edited book, chapter contributions to six other books, articles in refereed journals, reports, and conference papers. Other notable achievements in her career include several projects with research partners have earned her support from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Currently Dr. Milroy is retried.
