Biographical history

Barbara Lynn Kelsey was a professor in the Department of Information and Technology Management (formerly Administration and Information Management) at Ryerson University from 1996 to 2003. Kelsey earned her BSc, MBA, and PhD from the University of Toronto. She first worked at Ryerson from 1974 to 1978 as Secretary to the Dean of Technology, leaving the university for a period to work for Bell Canada and the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. In 2002, Kelsey was named ITM's Director of Research and in 1998 and 2001, she won teaching awards from Ryerson's Group to Renew and Enhance Effective Teaching (GREET). She was actively involved with the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada and the Academy of Management. Kelsey passed away on May 11, 2003. After her death, the Barbara Kelsey Gold Medal Award, the Barbara Kelsey Memorial Award, and the Barbara Lynn Kelsey Memorial Scholarship were established in her honour.
