Liz Devine attended Ryerson University in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program. While attending Ryerson she was elected to the Students' Union (RyeSAC) as the Vice-President Internal Operations. She graduated in 1985, returning in 1989 to manage RyeSAC operations. In 1995 she worked for Student Services. She stayed with that department until 2005 in various roles. In 2005 she became the Manager, Student Alumni partnerships until 2008. Over this period she acted as the Board Secretary and committee chair for the Palin Foundation (1995-2007) and with Ryerson Centre (1996-2009).

William John Cook is a professor Emeritus in the Department of English at Ryerson University.
John Cook graduated from Sir George Williams (Concordia) University in Montreal with a B.A. and took his Masters from the University of Alberta. He joined the faculty at Ryerson in 1969. He served as chair of the English Department between 1980-1986. He was active on the Academic Council, and chaired the departmental curriculum committee. In 1993 he was award Ryerson Professor of the Year.

He holds a B.Sc. Com. (summa cum laude) and an MBA from the Université de Sherbrooke and a PhD from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
He was the co-founder of, and from 1975 to 1990, the Chair of the Board of the SECOR Group, a major Canadian strategic consulting group which became KPMG-Secor in 2012. During this time, he played a critical role in establishing the joint doctoral program in administration in the four Montréal universities, and the executive MBA program at UQAM’s management science school, the École des sciences de la gestion (ESG).
He was Executive Vice-President of Bombardier from 1996 to 2001 and served on many different Boards of Directors. In 2001, he became a professor emeritus of strategy at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and has been the Executive Chair of the Board of the Institute for governance (IGOPP) since 2005. His contribution as Chair of the task force led to the enactment of Québec’s Act Respecting the Governance of State-Owned Enterprises in 2006. He has published over a hundred works and articles covering every aspect of corporate governance, the most recent of which were co-authored with Mihaela Firsirotu.
From 2010 to 2014, Allaire was first, a member and then, Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Role of Business.
He has been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada since 1991, and in 2001, received the Award of Distinction from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business for his extraordinary contribution to the business world and the community. The Academy of Economic Sciences of Bucharest awarded him a doctorate honoris causa in 1995. In 2001, he was also chosen as one of 12 “High Performers” by Commerce magazine and, in 2008, the Financial Post Magazine named him one of Canada's six Business Gurus.

He was an expert on Marxist economic theory and often outspoken in his criticism of United States economic policy. A specialist on the economics of underdeveloped countries, he helped make an economic survey of Cuba by invitation of that Government in 1960. Before joining Stanford in 1949, where he taught until his death, he had been a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In World War II, he was a staff member of the Office of Strategic Services the United States Strategic Bombing Survey of Germany and Japan.

She is a Canadian author and activist. She is the National Chairperson of the Council of Canadians, a citizens’ advocacy organization with members and chapters across Canada. She is also the co-founder of the Blue Planet Project, which works internationally for the human right to water. Maude chairs the board of Washington-based Food & Water Watch, is a founding member of the San Francisco–based International Forum on Globalization, and a Councillor with the Hamburg-based World Future Council. In 2008/2009, she served as Senior Advisor on Water to the 63rd President of the United Nations General Assembly and was a leader in the campaign to have water recognized as a human right by the UN. She has authored and co-authored 16 books.

He attended Sir George Williams University, graduating in June 1966 with Honours in History and winning the Lieutenant-Governor's Silver Medal for the highest standing in history. After graduation he pursued graduate studies at the University of Toronto, earning an MA in history in 1967 and a Ph.D. in 1971. He has published in academic and popular publications on a wide range of topics specializing in modern Canadian politics, Canadian defence and foreign policy, and Canadian military history. He has written, coauthored, or edited over 30 popular and academic books and does regular commentary for television and radio. He has written for the Globe and Mail, the Toronto Star, the Calgary Herald, the National Post and other newspapers.
In 1988, Bercuson was elected to the Royal Society of Canada and in May 1989, he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies at The University of Calgary. In 1997 he was appointed Special Advisor to the Minister of National Defence on the Future of the Canadian Forces. He was a member of the Minister of National Defence’s Monitoring Committee from 1997 to 2003. He served on the Advisory Council on National Security from 2005 to 2008. Since January 1997 he has been the Director of the Centre for Military and Strategic Studies at the University of Calgary. Currently he is also the Director of Programs of the Canadian Defence and Foreign Affairs Institute, which is based in Calgary. Dr. Bercuson served as Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of 41 Combat Engineer Regiment, a Land Force Reserve military engineer unit of the Canadian Forces until November 2010. He is a member of Board of Governors of the Royal Military College of Canada. In 2002 Dr. Bercuson was awarded the J. B. Tyrrell Historical Medal from the Royal Society of Canada. In 2003, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.

The Ryerson Energy Centre was created in 1976. Its focus was non-petroleum based energy sources like solar, recycling, and uses for oil other than burning. The Centre became part of the Centre for Industrial Development in 1985 because the decline in projects that the centre was co-ordinating made it difficult to operate independently.
